wallpaper sizing?

what the best way to resize a pic to 1280 x 1024 so it does not distort the pic?
is there any programs that create like a mask you can place over the pic so you can choose which part of a photot to use? or something that can be done on photoshop??

Just open a new photoshop page to those dimensions, paste the pic and then move it til you get the parts you want showing.

i use irfanview (just google 'infanview', d/l for free) for resizing pictures. dunno if it will be to basic for what you want to do though.

you could give it a try, its free after all.

i have tried that but the original pic size is to big and i am only getting the very centre??

Then just resize it.

Ctrl + T and hold Shift to keep the scale.
