197 gearbox?

When did the new ratio box come out for the 197? and does it make a big difference?

The New gearbox came on all new 197s from October last year.

longer ratios for 5th and 6th gear, about 4%.

So I guess if you have a 56 plate 197 for example you just have to deal with it?
