whats the difference?..

  clio 1.2 16v
whats the difference betweeen ..

- an 182ff
- 182 trophy
-172 trophy
-182 cup
-172 cup

I dunno which to stat looking at to buyyyy and have searched and seems that it is all on opinion but what is the actual differecne interiro ?.. speed ?.. lights ?..colours ?.. helpppppppppppp :approve:

  ST
The trophy is the best of the bunch...the 172 cup comes a close second, the 182FF third..the 172 fourth then the pointless 182 'cup' comes a very very poor 5th..

All around the same pace tho the trophy can carry more speed into bends due to its sachs set up..

The trophy will be the most expensive and they still command top money as in 8.5/9k for a minter..

  Audi S1
nope no a/c...well i think it was an option... an option which aload didnt want...

all have leather i think

  M2 Competition
172 cup has nothing... no leather, no air-con in most cases, no xenons, no abs, no traction control.

If you have the choice a 182 with both cup packs is the ideal all rounder.

soo a 182 or a 172 cup is what i shud be looking for ?..

do these come with leatherr and air con ?..

Its not what you should be looking for, its what you want that you should be looking for.

The trophy has Half Leather Recaros which are fantastic seats tbh, although the Trophy doesnt come with Xenon headlights.

  Facelift R53 Cooper S
surprised no-one has said it yet but there's no such thing as a 172 Trophy, there's only 182 Trophy's

Is this a wind up thread?

nope not one bit if im spending 5k ish on a car then another 1400 on insurance i want to know what i should be looking for and the difference in the cars if u dont like it mate dont read the thread!

  B/G 182 + PH1 Track
Dont forget all 04 182's will need there Cam belt service this year, so if you decide on one take this in to account on your budget.! like a 500quid job.

With only 5k to spend buy a 172 cup with 40k miles ish, they don't have all the toys or ABS brakes, but they are very slightly quicker, lighter (so better fuel consumption) handle better and have less to go wrong. Oh yeh, even in standard trim they are a nicer looking car from the outside too. As with all advice on buying a second hand car though, check it out before you buy and don't buy the first one you see unless it is the best, then go back for it, especially the way things are at the moment you should get quite a bargain - good luck

You'd think that after nearly 600 posts on this site you would know how to use the search facility...or maybe that's why your post count is so high.

Anyway, any of the cars you've listed will be such a step up from your current car that i don't think it really matters which one you get. I was in a similar position to you, i had to chose between a 172 and a 172 Cup. I went for the 172 as i know i couldn't live with the seats out of my nans Clio and no aircon or ABS

What also helped me make my decision is that i prefer the wheels on the 172.

  clio 1.2 16v
i did a search and found about seats and air con etc, i just wanted too know a few other things!..

and was wondering about price differences in the different cars tbh i just want to make sure i am buying something decent as i rushed into gttin my 1.2 and got a different model that i reli wanted and have never reli been happy with the car..

  1.6 Focus, 1.6 122S
water, they are all the best at different things.

What do you want?

How much to you have to spend?

What comforts do you want leather / air con / xenons / crusie?

What will you be using it for, Motorway B-Road? Track days?

  clio 1.2 16v
this is what i wanted thanks saner..

i like all the clios tbh..

i have around 5.5k too spend..

i like leather and air con and xenons not that fussed about crusie control though..

i will be using the motorway a few times but the drive to work is around 20mins on good driving roads, i will be intrested in takin part in a few track days when i get the car ..

  1.6 Focus, 1.6 122S
Right, to get the climate control / xenons / half leather and possible track day car your looking at a 182 with both Cup Packs, this will aslo come with Crusie control.

If you don't want xenons then there are a few more option open to you

I hate when people moan when you start a thread and then actually go through the effort of picking you up on it... threads are open to answer questions clearly he wants to no opinions... personally ild go for the 182... even tho i drive a 172... i wouldnt go for the 172 cup due to i like the toys...:)

Wasnt hard i gave my opinion! :)

  BMW E46 330i Touring
That's the issue mate, the (marginally) quicker ones do not have as many toys.

With your budget, I'd suggest a 182 with Cup packs. This ensures you have as many toys as possible and it still looks the part. I prefer the looks of the 172 Cup (subtle differences), but if you're not sure if you want the toys or not, you'll probably wish you went for them later.

As for colours, Racing Blue looks great with a couple changes, although I think it looks wrong out of the box. Black Gold is fantastic, but a nightmare to keep clean. Silver is underrated. The darker blue (name escapes me) is a lovely colour also.

For your budget you would get a minted Phase 1.

There a hoot to drive, i absolutley love mine and plan to keep it as long as i can

  B/G 182 + PH1 Track
I have a 182 and too be honest there is no differance between my brothers 172.

spend 4.5K on a decent 172 tbh.

Or do the smart thing and buy a PH-1 they look better, have fewer toy, but cable throttle makes them 10X better!

  B/G 182 + PH1 Track
with them being older do u get more problems though with the phase 1's ?..

No ours is on 90K and take the abuse of track perfectly fine, just fine one with full service history. I bet if you got a cheap 182, you would have more trouble with it.

On the money that lad.

Renaults are strong cars when taken care of, neglect is the cancer of these things

I found mine with a lady owner and f/s/h there was no way i could walk away (that coupled with the fact i travelled 190 miles to see it lol)

Plus theres probaly alot less Phase 1's these days than Phase 2's and 182's due to write offs, shipped abroad etc

  B/G 182 + PH1 Track
Just a standard 172 is what you want i think, it has the leather interior. Xenons , just spend time to find a decent one.

or Go out to a renault deal and look at them all, instead of listening to peoples own opinions, find out for yourself.

What MPG or miles per tank do people tend to get?

Should i use super unleaded?

What car's will my 1*2 beat in a race?

What tyres are the best?

Christ mate one at a time lol

I find my car runs smoother on V-power (this is just personal opinion, people will tell you its all in the mind but hey-ho)

I dont normally fill my tank to the gunnels but id imagine with a mixture of driving id say it wont get any more than 315-325 miles.
Thats about 33-34mpg, or there abouts.

The tyres you pick will be totally dependant on what you intend to use them for, Toyo R888's are paticullarly good tyres but with "spirited use" wont last longer than 4-6k miles

What cars will your 172/182s beat in a race? Thats a bit of a vague question mate, specifically?
