Solid top mounts - where from

Just wondering what other companies make the solid front top mounts for the Clios other than K-Tec?

Are they all the same or is 1 set better than another?

Edit - I take it the original bearings are used? Seems obvious but just checking.

i had the compbrake ones and they are utter sh*t

nobody else seems to have clocked yet that they dont actually fit the turret properly

ie when not tightened up they slop about in the turret

yes they are solid once tightened,, but bumps in the road etc jolt them causing camber/caster changes...

plus after about 2 months with them on the lock rings seized absolutely solid on mine.. im sure its because they went oval from the movement

hold one up in the turret yourself mate.

thats my experiance of them,,, un biased.

i've now put renault mounts back on as
1 i couldnt stand the banging for minimal improvement in handling
2 every time i put it on the tracking gauges it had changed

best bet is to check it yourself

They are better than the Renault items, however, how much better depend on what you are doing with the car.

I guess its down to your expectations - will £500 on these make you quicker than a trackday with an instructor for the day - no... with they make your turn in better, yes, will you notice it day to day - yes, as the car will be firmer, and will "hit" the bumps harder.

i agree with everything ditz had said about the compbrake ones, i had them on my 182 for about a week, ditched them for the mark fish ones as there actually soild and dont move!

Anyone know a rough price of the Mark Fish ones, I don't want to ring up and ask loads of questions etc but then not buy them due to price.

Buying the Compbrake mounts and THEN finding out they are crap - lol already got the beer chilled!

i wouldnt bother wasting time fitting them .. try and sell them on here! I sold mine on here, but i didnt realise how bad they were untill I fitted the mark fish ones and drove the car, feel a bit bad now for the member i sold them too, sorry!

^ I was close to getting them instead of you Tigger I think!!

I don't really need new top mounts, the std ones are still in decent condition, just thought with seeing them mentioned a few times I'd do some research into them. Might be a possible mod for the future I guess.

Thanks for all the help.

I think you were right-enough. I'll let you know how I get on when I get the chance to fit them.

Was a lot of good reports when there was a GB on them

i never had a problem with these, they did there job fine, tho i do more miles on track than i have on the road in the last 6 months lol. i never had any banging or knocking with these in place and they inproved the feel of the car quite a bit in my opinion. the only reason i changed from these to the ast ones was so that i had camber and castor adjustment, if they wernt available id still be using them today.

strange how these were the muts nuts months ago and then all of a sudden there frowned upon? the cliosport cartel voice there opinions and the sheep with no actual experience start piping up mabey? ahh well.

my advice, there not hard to fit, put them on, try em out, if you like them keep them on if not take them back off
