50mpg from my 182!

Just drove a 200 mile trip to York and back in my 182, averaging 50.4mpg on the way there and down to 48mpg on the way back because of a bit of traffic!

Really shocked, needle still reading above half a tank left!

Was driving slwly on the way there, about 60-65 as i left home an hour earlier than i meant to, so was in no rush!
Then on the way back was pretty much the same due to traffic and conditions, pretty impressive I think!

Not lies, just careful driving!
I'm guessing the lost weight helps but just drove nice and smoothly.

I get 30mpg day to day in the 182, used to get about 45 in my 1.2.

Most I got from the 1.2 way 56mpg on a similar run but didnt drop below 70mph.

i need to get something sorted outttt.
take it i just have to drive properly instead of ragging it a wee it.
got the wee 1.2 busting a gut sometimes :clown:

  182
thats more like it good old 27 mpg ripp the ass out of it if not buy a micra and a flat cap
can't say that i get above 35 unless on m-way

Mines at 37. I drive it sensibly most of the time, as the majority of the time Im driving, its dark and wet!! And as Im not 100% used to the car, I dont want to 'play' in those conditions.
Im at half a tank now, and Ive done 180ish miles :)

im amazed everytime i see these posts

last tank in my dci i got 51mpg thats 6mpg down on the tank before im really not keen to see my ture mpg this time :(

Used 2 get 50 out of my 172 regularly, but the 182 wont average any more than about 39. Dunno what the craic is there.

I get 50+mpg on the motorway if I reset the trip computer but on an average run of 150 mile week which consists of 2/3 motorway and 1/3 town driving I get 39.

Like someone above though I don't really rape the car more just use it to go A-B.

Wow that's impressive. The highest i've managed was trip to Norfolk with an average of about 38mpg

I do 90 miles a day and get 38-40mpg week in week out. I plod on the motorways though anything above 80 on the speedo drinks fuel! I get quite annoyed if the car ever drops below 35mpg!! I do drive it hard when the roads are clear though!!

Time is the most valuable commodity in the world and it cannot be replaced.

Balls to £1.27 in saved fuel.

Good work though.

It's possible. We did a trip to Wles from the NE a couple of months ago and I was chuffed to get 49mpg on the way there, then my lass got about 51mpg on the way back. Was gutted (about her beating me, not about the fuel consumption). So, yes, it's doable. I'm beginning to wonder if Renault had a couple of different fuel maps over the production life of the car? I guess it also depends on peoples driving styles and mix of motorway / b-road. You need to stick to a very average 65-70 to do well. As above, at much more the needle will drop much quicker.

You only get those figures on a good steady long run. But at the same time my normal mpg is around 31-33 with a mixture of town driving to work/shopping and going for a good thrash on on the moors on the weekends.
Interesting thing is my old man does very similar most of the time in a 406 hdi and gets 33-36. Admitedly its a bigger car and much better on a long run but the 1*2 really is good tbh:).

Too right. I can't think of anything to (eventually) replace it with that'll do similar mpg and have the same fun-factor...

If you're going off the onboard MPG meter - that's waaaay inaccurate. You need a real-time checking system. The one on the 182 shows you a semi-maybe-kind-of scenario in petrol usage, a week last Thursday.... :)

well, i went to chorley the other week and got 56mpg after a good 30 mile drive doing around 62mph, just been to the lakes and have been getting 48/9mpg after a very good motorway run/some b-road driving, this is in my gt tdi golf btw, after me thinking it was s**t on juice its reasonablly good, when you put it on a run, normally i run 75 miles to a tenner in my diesel golf, doing 7 mile runs to work and back, not screwing it!

The 172 fuel computer is near on useless, work it out at the pump and its easily 4-5mpg off each time. However, the 182 is much better, mine is normally spot on or very very close, and at present am averaging 31mpg, reguallarly.
