90's BTCC FTW...

Epic days of racing. TG last night reminded me of it. I was only a lad and used to go to as many races as possible with my Dad.

One of the most exciting forms of motorsport to watch, ever IMO.

It's a shame that it's gone downhill since the end of the 90's.

Also, who was your favourite driver? I back Mansell and Biela. So many legends though.

BTCC was good but doesnt come anywhere near as awesome as Group B Rally,im not sure how old you are Chris but i was lucky enough to see these in the flesh racing and the sound was mindblowing.I think you needed to see it first hand to get an idea how amazing it was.

Rallying (for me) can never be as exciting as good track racing, as it's basically racing against the clock. Close, wheel to wheel driving is the ultimate for me.

They never took the barriers down at the old hairpin, I drive around it regularly. Rarely sideways, sadly.

At next years Silverstone Classic they're due to be having a Super Touring Cars race as part of the schedule, they're hoping to get 30 cars. It should be epic.

True, the tourers were awesome, but the group B cars were immense!! I never saw them in anger, but my dad did, he hadn't been until 1995 after the group b's were banned.

He was dissapointed, said they just seemed so different in comparison, it was like losing a fiver and finding a quid.

I think they were all quick that's why it was so good to watch such close racing. They usually always dominated in the wet races though due to 4WD (and UK climate!).

loved btcc in the 90's used to see people walking back to their cars with bumpers and bonnets and all sorts.

one of the good motorsports that you could get up close and personal too etc with the pit access and stuff.

It was later found to add 20bhp at the wheels, and subsequently banned.

If that's not the look of a man who's 20bhp down, i don't know what is.
