Gritter's!!!!!!!!!!!

Car  ITB'd 182...
O how i hate them!

just thinking about the affect that it's having on my freshly waxed paintwork?

am i going to have to re-wax it once i give it a wash or will the wax act as a barrier against it?

You won't have to rewax it cos of the grit , waxing only helps to protect against the elements , it's not a physical barrier .

I hate them as well but id rather a couple stone chips than banging the car into a ditch as a result of sheet ice.

Pulled of the motorway and rejoined a junction down before to avoid them. Also pulled off the main road into a side street again to avoid one coming the other way.

Hate the stone chips they cause, understand why we have them though.

Amateur Justine - leave the m/way but rejoin at the same junction use the exit and entry slips to do the pass much more fun and challenging!

i hate the way they always stop the road from icing up and stop me from crashing...

loving the sarcasm to be honest

knowone has actualy awnsered my question about re-waxing anyway?!

if the salt is left on the car for a phew days is it going to eat into the wax?

yes/no awnser would be fine :rasp:

Depends on the wax - anything that is not known for it's durability will not fair well at this time of year.

I thought i did ;)

No you won't have to rewax it . Even with the less durable waxes it should be ok as you say it is freshly waxed . At this time of year alot of people like to have already built up a few layers prior to the bad weather setting in .

Owned and Schooled at the same time. Will remember for future though. Thanks Rich.

I often work nights & driving home at 06:00 I seem to be hitting the prime gritting time where I live. I hate it when you meet one coming the other way round a bend. No warning then it's like AAaAaAAargh! NoOoOo!
Then inspect for chips the next morning:(
