Lowering Springs

Car  Iceberg 172
Im thinking of getting lowering springs on my 172.
Who has them and do you think they make much of a difference?
If so, what do you reccommend? Im looking at EIBACH SPORTLINE's which are -30mm (£140ish off K-Tec) and also -40mm APEX ones (£60 off Ebay).
What you think?
Cheers

I've got the Apex's on my PH2, makes the height ace but you learn to drive totally diffrent, a 1" deep drain cover will have you pulling all over the road to try avoid it lol as its more of a BANG noise when you ride over it lol

when i eventually get some im probably going for PI springs, have heard eibach are good and eveyrone says them, but found a bargain place that has offered me a full set of Pi springs for £65 so cant argue at that. But whatever you do dont go for APEX!

do you have apex springs??

ive had apex springs (-60mm)
and ive never had any complaints with them,

they make the car sit the hight i like,
and yes they are harder than standard springs,
and yes avoiding potholes moves up your priorities list,

but i dont think they deserve the bad name theyve been branded with,
im happy with my apex springs.

sorry, cant give you any advice on eibatch

ive seen a few clios with 60mm/40mm apex if you do go for them, then you 60mm ride height is spot on as said. ANd yes ive been in one with 60mm and cant say i enjoyed it much, very bumpy, but its what you get when you go low. either save money and get top of the line ones, or live with the bumps.

lol people don't buy apex because they can't afford better springs, it's because they're one of the only ones that offer 60mm. If I didn't want it as low I'd gladly fork out the extra for eibachs.

agreed, i bought apex, because i wanted a 60mm drop,
not because theyre cheap,
ive never thought my springs had a bad ride,
theyre softer than coilovers,
and hard than standard,
thats about as far as i noticed lol

I have just put 40 mm apex springs on my 172 due to my coilovers being knackered and found them no harder than my coiliies, and it seams to handle bit better also,it also has a nice ride height too.

have to agree with you mate, ive got 40mm apex on mine and tbh the ride isnt appauling. ok its not the best ride in the world, but i can live with it and would deffo buy them again

You'll fit Sportlines, love them, then wish you'd gone lower. Currently running Apex springs.

Ride is fine for purpose.

Coilovers in a few days ;)

lol that is so true.
Thats what i did for 5 monthes then got coilovers, sooooo much better

To all of you guys who are using sportlines or apex., what springs are you using?

I am currently using Koni Yellow's, will this shocks work well with the sportlines? or will they suffer and be easily broken or worn off?

You're fine running on those, as you would be with standard shocks.

So long as they are in good condition, your Koni's will last.

i have had sportlines, prolines and apex springs. as an all rounder i would go for sportlines every time!

I'm running Apex springs as i love the ride height they give and the ride quality is not to bad at all in my opinion - so cant understand why they get slated so much to be honest.
