Whats the rev limit on the 172 maps on the rs tuner?

All I have used: 7,500, There is one that set it to 7,800 but can't remember which one was.

IIRC Henk has set the REV limiter to 7500 on the RS Tuner.
R-sport ECU / Map had 7800?

@ Guppy if you send an Email to henk he can set the REV limiter easy on your map. Might cost you though. (ofcourse you need the RS Tuner then)

Mine is at 7500 and haven't touched it since it was upped from 7250. I guess I'm riding like a granny :)

mine is on the group n. setting and it hit 7865 on the limiter when recording the graph thingy was a while ago tho,no point in taking it that far tho imo struggles after 7000 rpm.
 
7800RPM rev limit is useless on a standard engine. It's way over the point of peak power and all you are doing is making noise and reducing engine life. The standard cams make no power past 7K'ish.

If you have an engine with 428's in it and ARP big end fasteners then 7800RPM is about right in terms of limit and cam spec for that limit. 428's make good power right upto the rev limiter with a couple of hundred RPM plateau before the limit.

Your best off speaking to Jamestone he did the map for me and the only time iv taken it that far was on the test with him after the map was done.
 
There was when i did mine,i ran a 98 ron (or 95 not sure that long ago since i did it) then after a month changed to the group n setting to compare and hav'nt went back.

i don't know much about these things, but would any tail off in power be overcompensated by then changing up a gear and ending up 'futher' into the power band?

I think an easy way to think is say at 7000 rpm the engine is making 170 bhp, at 7800rpm its making 150 bhp.

with the power and torque dropping with the higher you rev, there wont really be an advantage of being higher up the rev range as the car is desgned to have a usefull spread of power through all the revs, with coming 'on cam' at circa 5000 rpm, and by changing at say 6500 rpm your dropping back into the optimum rev range for a standard engine, therefor making progress faster.

Of course modified engines are different
