Decat on a 1.2

Has anybody done it before? I remember foxy beating the s**t out of his. (I think he got an assault charge for it actually?)

Change in exhaust note?
Any emission lights?
Worth doing?

Probably not worth doing IMO..

on an rs clio you're only looking at 2-3bhp free'd up and a slightly better revving engine..

If you want any performance cahne , strip the b*****d. It's the only thing worth doing to a 1.2

Didn't think it was worth doing, but im taking it in to get the exhaust middle mount changed, so he might aswell chop the cat off

Meh - for the gains, is it really worth the time and effort putting it back on for every MOT.

Up to you though mate, its your car, do with it what you will - what exhaust is on at atm?

A free flowing cat-back made a good difference on my old 1.2 16v, felt it more when i put the standard system back on.

Others have also said the car feels a little stronger when going faster i.e over 60mph.

i'd strip the rear and get some good coilovers set up though tbh

Just had it done. Very loud now haha. And raspier than before.

Little update. Since the de-cat ive had my exhaust assessed and turns out its not ' Power Flow' but 'Pro Flow' which turns out to be some **** little Chinese company. The place i had it fitted were scamming people, and rather b****cks in general!

The steel used on my current exhaust is a very low grade. As a result:

The rear box is rusting.
The center box has cracked and the baffle has totally ****ed up.
Blowing from everywhere.
Gasket ****ed again
Down pipe interferes with gear linkage, so cant access 2nd gear properly.

Therefore................

Getting a real power flow exhaust fitted from the manifold down either later today or on monday. Trade price so isnt toooo bad.

You can hear the middle baffle rattling and blowing

And i revved it cold (impatient) hense the bellows of smoke, however it is running slightly rich too. Exhaust fail.

I did get a de-cat made up yes. Going in the scrap tomorrow, when i have the new exhaust put on.

guess a decat is subjective then. i think that the decat is probs one of the best mods ive done so far. sounds better and revs quicker.

the place i went to get it done are just amateur spackers.

The decat interferes with the gear linkage and blows from the gasket. Im having another fitted tomorrow at 9am. Ill take pics of the old 1 and show you JME.

got the exhausto fitted today. POWER flow this time lol. Much much quieter unless you boot it, which is perfect for me as the other 1 was doing my head in!

mine is very loud and pops all the time, on my old one i smashed it out on my current one i had extra pipe welded in place of it, this one sound much better + extremtly loud.

Also revvs much freeer, get in other 1.2 16v and they feel like somthings ristricting it compared to mine
