Any of you tools blown up your gearbox recently?

My mate managed to go from 5th to 1st in his VTR a while back, all that happened was one of his HT leads popped off. I'd have thought being a Sh*troen it would have imploded there and then.

i blew up my tamyia mini motor last week (SET ON FIRE :))
 
That pretty hard to do but we all make mistakes

my friend used to put his Saco from 5th to 1st on the motoway just for a laugh he was a strange one!
 
What's with all the "f**king idiot" posts?

I'm going to take a wild guess and say he didn't do it on purpose. If he's used to a lot of travel from 5th to 4th (which some cars have) then he probably just went a little too far left and caught 2nd. No one's fault but his own but he didn't hurt anyone.
 
Am I the only one that's thinking a 180 degree 'corner' is in fact straight on??.....:rasp:

In my old 206GTi I changed from 6k rev in 4th to 3th gear which only put the car to quick jurk and holt but was near fine after that.

Going from 5th to 2nd... That's epic.
 
Apparently he pulled it out of 5th into neutral and it redlined because he still had his foot on the throttle, then he took off the throttle panicked and put it in 2nd by mistake.
 
Trying to practice high level skill pedal work tabbing the throttle between changes to keep revs up on a car he's had 3 hours? :/

I think its more likely he just got the wrong gear. How would you even know what happened ?

Some people on here, can't see how the poor lad wrecking his box deserves the abuse on here.

Plus blipping the throttle between changes isn't "high level pedal work" ffs.

Out of how many drivers there is in the world, how many do/have the ability to think about doing it while thinking of all the other things going on?

You personally may think it's nothing at all, but others may see it as another complication and hard to sync ;)

at the end of th day, he was prob buzzing his tits off with the power upgrade, got a bit over exited and went for a down shift for a big kick, now he is probobly being sick with anger at himself, yes other peoples mistakes are funny at times, but only a disbelief kind of funny, not "he deserves to be hung" kind of funny, he has learned his lession for sure now and he will now be doing 15 second gear changes.
 
Feel sorry for the Guy, hopefully he can get it fixed an then Enjoy the great little car he has broke!
It'd only of been funny to watch if he was trying to kick down to stop someone overtaking lol
 
Gutting.... I can imagine how he must feel, spending your hard earned on your 1st "nice car" and then this.Its a shame really.

agreed, you would laugh seeing it but thats a reaction, sitting here on a forum saying how much of a nob he is isnt really funny, just pointless..

i know its not big or clever but me and my mate both used to have vtr's and when in 5th we'd bang um into 3rd and they pull like f*k tbf this was only to overtake something quickly or stop your friend from taking you.

this lad was most probably a little high on testosterone and tried to find 4th a little to hard and smashed it into 2nd instead. :cry:

just wondering have any of you tried going from 5th to 3rd in a clio?

Can't he claim on his insurance instead of breaking it. His premium won't sky rocket next year surely?

Get it fixed and back on the road!
