They can be bought (brought?!?!) laquered but its an extra £650 or something stupid, so am hoping if i order it in the matt finish i'll be able to get it sprayed up for a bit less. Plus i'll have my choice of colour - thinking of lunar grey or acid yellow!

if it can be painted and willing to pay for it any right minded bodyshop should happily paint it for you

Thanks buddy, its 90cm x 60cm x 35cm high roughly so not a massive object and obviously a bit less labour as there is no prepping / masking etc to do, just straight forward paint!

I was hoping it would be around that fig, max £300.

yeah if you could transit it without problems that would be good . would probs make it very expensive in the end tho and be cheaper for a local shop to do it , but try a few quotes and see what happens

What is it made of?

Its Polyethylene but apparantly rigid enough so there isnt any flexing when you sit on it (or else i'd imagine the paint would crack or come away from the surface).

I reckon i'm going to take the plunge with this and order it :)

If you want to have it painted and use a paint that isn't going to scratch like crazy, it will need to go in an oven and if it is a poly, that's a no no.

Do you know what paint they use?
In some cases it's cheaper in the long run just to bite the bullet...imo.

^ actually the overbake bit is a very good point i didnt think about that!!

No idea on what paint the orig manufacturer uses, its got a gloss finish but not sure if you can get a gloss from a powdercoat?

hmmmm decisions decisions.
