Steering Wheel Wobble at 50 and 70mph

Car  PH1 172 Sport
This car is doing my head in at the moment! today it as developed steering wheel wobble! am i right in thinking this is just a balancing issue?

I get a bit of vibration/wobble in mine too at 60-70mph

Wheels & tracking was all done last month though :S

Maybe bushes need replacing?

I have got the same issue and have been told that my bushes are worn :) (I too had wheels balanced and tracked a month back)

almost definitely wheel balancing if it's at that speed. Bear in mind that wheel weights can fall off which will cause unbalanced wheels. Take it back to where you had the tyres put on and if the tyres are relatively new they may balance again for free.

Tyres are over 6 months old. I'll just take it to the local tyre place near work and they can have the pleasure of bending the jacking points again:rolleyes:

I will check stuff like wheel bolts etc again as I had both front wheels off on Saturday to change the dampers but Ive got a feeling its just coincidence.

I will never go near another ATS or a KwikFit as long as I live, I have had bad experiences with both!!

Protyre if you've got one locally

you could try swapping the wheels about to see if that makes any difference

i've a mysterious light vibration from mine that seems to be road-surface dependent
haven't spent long looking at it, but it's not the wheels/balance/tyres; i'd wondered if it might be the slight free-play i found in one of the damper rods

very boring trying to sort stuff like this out anyway

Well today I've had all four tyre's balanced and the wobble is still there. The tyre place I used found that one of my rear alloys has a flat spot so they are going to put the good tyre on the spare alloy tomorrow but I don't see that stopping the wobble.

On Saturday i fitted some new Koni Shocks one of them does not adjust correctly and needs a few compressions and decompressions before it dampens so I'm wondering if its that thats causing the wobble as it seems to be surface and speed dependent.

I am expecting a replacement shock sometime next week but it would be good to know if anyone agrees with this diagnosis??

All my wheels are balanced, but if the backs are on the front I get a wobble. Took ages of faffing and repeated balancing to realise this... None of the wheels look buckled, all are true. Really weird. What tyres you got? My prob only became noticeable when I fitted goodyear eagles... (EXCELLENT TYRE BTW)

Mines been sorted out. The tracking was out and one of my rear alloys was really out of shape. Luckily the spare was true so i just had the tyre changed over.

I have Goodyear Eagle F1's on the front, Toyo T1R's on the rear :)

Just had this problem too and was going to say change wheels around as apparently i have two buckled rears and a flat spot on the front :(

Although changed the fronts round left - right, right - left and it fixed it :S
