Fancyplates problem

  Renault Clio
I'm looking to buy completely plain (obviously they have to have the registration on them) standard sized number plates from Fancyplates. If you go to the site and click constructer, if you then go to fancyplates and fill in your registration and then click Add to Cart, the plates are £20. If you do the same again but instead of going to fancyplates, go to Standard UK plates, the plates are £15. I'm just wondering what the difference is when they're both completely plain?

Here's a crazy idea.. Ask FancyPlates?

Here's an even crazier idea, I'll make a topic on a forum where there are actually some nice people who help people and answer their queries. I better not though, if I do that I'm running the risk of getting a sarcastic reply from someone who has nothing better to do.

Are you scared to pick up the phone?

I don't see why you're making this so difficult. Someone might just guess, not have any idea or you might not get a reply at all. So you'll be the non the wiser. A 30 second phone call will give you your answer.

I'm at work, can't make phone calls mate.

Its because the text size is a lot smaller therefore custom. Even though you select "standard uk font" on the "fancyplate" constructor the font is small.

I don't think it's that. I've just got a response and the Standard UK plates aren't completely plain. They have the company's details across the bottom, which isn't what I want ;)

Well thats why they are more then as they are custom!

And the text/font is smaller then the standard ones as I have 2 sets of plates from fancy plates...custom ones like you want, a cut down small front one and Standard legal ones (apparently.....well they passed MOT) and the text is different on the custom ones..smaller (even on the standard size i.e non cut down ones)

But I'm not going to get pulled if they're standard size am I, who would notice?

Try it and see! I have never been stopped yet for my small cut down plate..I pass numerous (sp??) police cars on the way to from work and, touch wood, never had anything yet.

Standard size you aren't likely to get pulled. But get pulled for something bad and they will try and get you for every little thing, like number plates, tread depth on tyres etc etc.

Mine are from Halfords, they are plain and have the detailing world stickers at the bottom. Been stopped a few times last xmas for the usual drink driving checks in my area and not had anything said about them. The washer bottle was empty though :S lol.

i wasnt concerned with being pulled for a smaller front plate. it fits the recess anyway, so looks like it fits nicely.
but yeah like JD said, if you do get pulled they are more likely to check everything to mount up their nice little total!
