Plain Brembos - 50ish I think
New pads - 40ish I think for std.

Thats under 100, saving you 500....

  Mini JCW
I see what your saying, but these are bigger and shinier:eek:

Although it would free up £500 for other stuff....

How about this then then gex.

Give me and Pepsi your car + £600. We will sort the brakes for you and let you know when its sorted.

Lol but seriously i recently bought new Brembo HC discs and Renault OEM pads off Pete@Autonation on here for £96 delivered. Pepsi fitted them for me in about 30mins and i slipped him £20. Job done and slight upgrade at the same time.

4 Pots are not really a lot better than upgraded standards dude in braking force (from what I've read from people in the know) but they will be pretty much fade free all the time.

On my 182 I fitted braided lines, race fluid, Brembo MAX discs and redstuff pads, the braking was stupid, I got a few bargains but even so it would come in way under 600 quid! Unless you live on a track 4 pots arent all that.

Although to be fair, I reckon James (Sargara)'s idea is pretty much the best way forward for you ;)

You've seen my driving mate, i'm virtually a pro racing driver :rasp:

On a serious note, your probably right:dapprove:

4 pots are the better option for trackdays, everyday a good setup will do as well, but 4 pots dont fade as much.

Do these come as a complete kit? Brackets and all?

Cheers

Anthony

Yep, all the fittings and fixings in the kit,IIRC now including Goodridge braided lines.

I have this kit fitted to my 172, great stopping power, and no fade whatsoever.

Also they're a lot lighter then the standard set-up, and look 100x better IMO.

Yeah braided lines are included too :)

Awesome, I am very tempted to purchase them

'Hi, I'd like to waste some money today, anything you could suggest?'

'Certainly sir, 4 pot brakes are quite a good way to spend a lot of money for little on road gain...'

'Perfect, I'll take 2 sets, costs more that way'

Pepsi - shoooosht.

if you get them on a deal or a good price then they are worth it, and look better than the shitey 1 pot thing anyway.

  Mini JCW
They do look good, I am still tempted by the 4pots though:eek:

Saying that, I am still awaiting a reply from compbrake, and there's no contact number plus the website looks 'basic' at best, I don't want to order them for me to be waiting weeks with no contact or product:dapprove:

Nuts IMO. I've been on track driving my car, then passengering in a car on 4pots. No difference in stopping power.

How often do you track your car?

I don't as i'm a s**t driver, may aswell be honest about it lol.

I know theres cheaper out there, and I know they are probably a waste of money, overpriced, ineffective, OTT etc etc, and yet I would still like some:dapprove:

Unless anyone else has got suggestions on how best to spend £700 on a cup?

^ How about:

Leather interior from 172?
Xenon headlights?
Stainless exhaust?
Some 2118's and tyres?
Recaros?
Matched Inlets and Remap?

Etc

  106 GTI
I wouldnt personally buy a maxogen, matched inlets are better if you havnt got them.

As for brakes brembo HCs and Ds2500s are a nice combo

There's nothing else you could do that will improve the car as much as a good pair of seats.

Already got a Piper zaust and K-tec decat mate, xenons and leather interior I don't really see as an upgrade personally, also I prefer the turinis over 2118s, if you mean recaro trendlines I was hugely unimpressed with them and the driving position they offer.

Matched inlets are the only thing i'd consider, and i'm already running an RStuner remap mate.

Cheers for the suggestions.

Good call on the brake combo.

Maxogens are expensive but they are a properly deisgned low production volume CF unit so not too bad considering.

I've got these. Better driving position, comfort, and support than the CS fav Trendlines.

Get a couple of subframes, onto a winner.

Good choice sir! I will consider seats too, still suffering pvoerty spec cup seats:eek:

surely you only really want to be looking at uprating the breaking once you've upped the cars power/speed considerable amounts?
But like others have said, it's your car/your money go wild!!!

Look, whether you need them or not...They look 100% better and thats all that matters! :p

Lets be honest, most people fit coils for stance over performance. Those who set their cars up for track very rearly care if theres a spec of dirt on their cars.

4 pots are significantly better than 172 OEM brakes. Been there done that! Although i would buy AP's not Compbrakes if i did it again!

Some good points there mate.

I just wish Compbrake would get their act together and reply to my damned e-mails:mad:. I can't afford the APs unfortunately.

Good points well made. I got 4-pots purely for the fade issues I was having (not on a clio ;) ) A fun drive across Milton Keynes would only last me 2 roundabouts and i'd have to be back to cruising or have a pedal through the floor to stop.

Also worth noting you'll get better pad and disk life (disks more significantly) with 4-pots, due to more even braking. Single pots ALWAYS wear one side of the disc a lot faster.

Someone will no doubt roll out the "cup racer" arguement soon. Yes they run stock calipers, but they're totally stripped out so massively lighter, and they only have to last 20 minutes then they can have a brand new set if needed.

Copmbrake stuff is good, apart from the pads. WELL worth getting a better pad compuond of you'll be sorely disappointed
