matched inlets

  Cooksport Fleet
Yes, Obviously it depends how much they are out in the first place. But tbh, remap and matched inlets, are quite noticeable.

Best 2 mods i have done! (Apart from stripping it!)

+1

I have matched inlets with PTFE Gaskets, ITG Panel Filter with no acoustic valve and uprated air feeds, Full stainless stealth exhaust system with decat and a Grp N Ecu Remap with 7800rpm rev limit and i certainly notice the difference.

It seems to pull and pull :)

There def worth the £££'s

Go for it ;)

i have BMC CF air filter,A.A.S. decat been told that removing the accoustic valve makes no difference, want PTFE gaskets and will be getting remap after matched inlets:D

What about Clio 197?

2 of my friends have matched inlets and they claim there's no difference, especially noticable difference...

I was thinking about doing it anyway...but I don't want to throw 230 for nothing...

You would only notice the difference with matched inlets if your manifold isn't RS stamped as they were poorly cast but the RS stamped ones were alot better. You may get an extra 1hp out of a RS stamped one.

But to quote Tesco "Every little helps"

If you've got the money to splash out on the placebo effect for peace of mind then do it.

it was 182s that had the RS stamped ones.

Matched inlets do appear to work on 1*2s

One tuner claimed massive gains on 197, but then it all went very quiet...

I took mine off on sunday to replace the gasket, I couldnt find a stamp, were all 182's def stamped?

Tnx for the reply.

I've got no problem with getting no bhp, but I want more throttle response.

197 inlet don't need of matching between upper and low section.

But 'cause you say about 197 inlet, i've managed to install 197 inlet to 182 engine.
Huge diffrence between lower inlet to cylinder head.
Here are some images
182 head and 197 gasket

new holes must be drilled left and right of the inlet on 197 gasket

allmost ready. Little notch at the upper middle of inlet is made to clear the way of injector spray. (new position of injectors)

You filling them out with the valves still in? is the head still assembled while you are filing s**t away?

surely getting the head CNC'd would be better mate. Full rebuild etc. You don't really want to get swarf in the seals etc.

Ha... I was affraid of that but nothing happen at the end...:rasp:
Now runing 7k and pull's F*** great.

Anyway now you know the big diff between 197 and 182 head after camshafts

the gasket for a 197 is 8200490282
I know that Fred. If you find any pic of 197's gasket you 'll find that it's same as mine...

Andy and Danny,
How i made it? I took a cork gasket(may not the correct word but i think you know what i mean) and matched with inlet ports of 197 low end inlet as a guide. Then put it on 182 head marked and on, and on you know...
I took pictures with the 197 gassket, same as fred posted, just to show the diffrence between 182 and 197 ports.
Yes they are lot larger but it not me....It the F*** inlet
Anyway i was at road today just to youtube my car to show you how it pulls (cause if i tell you that this combo as you said) makes 203 hp on a MAHA dynometer, you would 't belive me...
As a conclusion of today ride was this

How do you tell if they're RS stamped?

cracks me up how many people are asking that question at the moment.

Unlucky with the bonnet mate. Still love to know if this 182 head with 197 inlets works well? Get the beast rolling roaded :approve:

There is a definate gain when matching RS inlets.

And there is also work to be done matching the two sections of the 197 inlets....
