is it worth it or not??

  S2 106 GTI
is it worth getting some body work done on the car before you sell or knock the amount its going to cost off the price your selling it for?

If I get some done it will make the car easier to sell but also make the car a true mint condition one which makes me think "should I sell?"

cheers Rich

Try selling in the free places with plates blanked and pics at a location away from home as it is.

If no-one offers you enough/anything then fix it up and decide whether to keep or sell.

its not in your face damage - like a big dent, just some small scratches - and a deep one on the bonnet (from last owner dropping a washing lance on it)

Alot of people dont really care about scratches. And aslong is the car gets them from A to B .. then thats good enough

A lot of people do care about scratches and there are a lot of cars for sale both generally and at the moment... That means there is a lot of choice...

I got quoted £80 a panel for respray the other week. If its the bonnet then you should get away without blending it with the other panels maybe.

Its not just the bonnet - the deepest one is on the bonnet (along with stone chips lol) but the door has a few marks on - Only being honest in a sale you see. I asked for a price around 8 months ago to sort out all the scratchs and give it a good polish from the garage - £700 it was going to cost, and that would make it like new!

well I won't be advertising until april/may time anyway (if it comes to that!) so I will see what happens....

If they polish up ok I wouldn't worry, maybe worth just getting a smart repair person to do the worst one on the bonnet.

I wouldn't spend £700 fixing it. When I looked at mine it seemed to have hardly any scratches. It's not until you start washing it your self that you start to notice them all. Almost all 5 year old cars will have a few. Maybe just get the big one sorted out?

I would only spend the £700 if I was going to keep really, I will see what happens in a few months....thanks for the replies :)
