Insurance woes... shall i buy a sport?!

  ?
Whats wrong?

Been shopping around for a few days, numerous companies called. Its the same price to insure my 1.6 16v with the following modifications:

- Exhaust
- Induction kit
- Stereo
- Alloys

As it is for a standard Ph1 172. Wtf!?

It might be the perfect chance to upgrade to a sport... but there would be some additional cost in it as well as the fact I plan on buying a nicer car in 2 years anyway and would rather save every penny atm.

Basically:
- 1.6 is in perfect mechanical working order (afaik) drives fine always serviced on time etc. Nothing needs changing mechanically
- 1.6 does need circa £300 on rear quater respray and a dent pulled out
- Any new car I buy may have mechanical problems that need sorting, and the actual change to a 172 would cost a few bob on top..

I'm waiting to hear back from brentacre and sky insurance but if I dont get any better quotes im really stuck as what to do? I think i'll just insure the 1.6 TPFT if I dont get any better prices and then if i do upgrade to a sport in the next few months go fully comp.

Try adrian flux and ask to speak to the red department. They specilise in modified cars and my insurance was actully cheaper than if the car was standard.

  ?
Flux told me that they are unable to provide a quote! Something to do with recently changing/removing all their modified policy underwriters etc? :S

I wouldn't worry about this. One of the big insurers wouldn't touch me simply because it was an aftermarket exhaust.

  Mondeo TXS Bardge.
i got quoted by flux last night on my modified c4, even managed to beat admiral and bell. more than likey going with them, waiting to hear back from green light before deciding.
i did have alot of big names giving silly prices, aviva want double what flux quoted and insisted on a much higher excess.
