Inspection:
After setting up, wheels, arches and sills attacked with products various.
Alloys requiring a little more time than usual.
Tar pick-up off the wheels:
And then clayed to lift some of the lighter pitting:
Crevices, badges, joins and gaps cleaned with an Envy Brush and G101.
After washing with the usual two-bucket setup and Dodo Born To Be Mild shampoo, little protection was found on the vehicle:
The benefits of a two-bucket wash:
That dirty water in the rinse bucket would otherwise still be on your car!
AutoSmart Tardis applied to the lower areas and allowed to dwell. A minute or so into its work time, area wiped with a clean cloth and surplus amounts of tar seen lifted.
Vehicle then clayed with Sonus Green and Last Touch as lube…
The tailgate was quite stubborn – glass also benefited massively from a quick pass.
Dried off and taken inside for further inspection.
Paint looks to be quite hazy…
Under the forced lights:
B-Pillars quite tarnished, milky and dull:
Check out this hand-print (wasn’t removed through the wash > clay stages!)
(I forgot to add, this vehicle does the school-run everyday)
Bonnet lacking clarity:
So starting on the rear door of the O/S. 3M Polishing Pad and Limeprime. Go!

C-Pillars weren’t much better!!
It’s about 4:30pm at this point. It’s cold, it’s raining hard and it’s ‘moist’ in the air. Bodywork wise, I was struggling. There was no-way I could get it waxed in these conditions..
In checking my work, I had kittens when I saw this lot:
..merely condensation that was forming all over the vehicle. I’ll worry about this when I have to (…the morning!)
Before end of play on day 1 I sealed the wheels with JetSEAL901, dressed the tyres and cleaned up the exhaust baffles that could be spotted in the rear wheel arches.
Bright and early the next day:
…the cheek!
To kick things off, I finished a bit of the machine work and finally got round to waxing the car. Victoria Concours used today for a bit of a change..
After this the plastics, trim, britework etc were attended to.
Grille before:
After (plastics dressed with All-Season Dressing)
Now, before the rain comes again, I ran it out the front to snap a few pictures.
Replacing the rear registration plate would benefit the back end massively! Oh it’s the little things…
Moved back inside for some interior work..
Leather with LTT kit.
Mats and carpets were agitated with G101 and wiped clean.
Doorcards, plastics and centre console had a G101 wipeover, however, this wasn’t enough. The rear of the interior was well ‘used’… Quite a few ‘kick’ (scuff) marks on the plastics and on the rears of the front seats.
Taking things a step further, G101 was agitated with a Megs brush, but, no joy!
This was the back of the passenger’s seat after the above two hits:
I need to go aggressive. A JML Magic Eraser maybe?
Again, G101 applied and light agitation with the above eraser.
The outcome wasn’t perfect, but, much improved..
Same goes for the rear centre-console:
….and all four of the doorcards!
A general after of the rear:
Glass cleaned inside and out. A few final touches and we’re about there..
The rest of the photos (infact, some of the above were, too) were taken on my back-up cam (for the first time EVER, my SLR battery was run-flat!
