T1R's on your 182

Whose running these on there 182s?

How do you find them? Better tyre for money out there? Ran them on my Phase 1 and couldnt fault them in the dry!?
 
I've always run Contisport because i can't fault them and i like to stick to what i know, but, if i was on a tight budget i think T1R's would be my next choice, purely due to research on here.

Obviously mine is a 172 though so slight difference in size, if that changes anything.
 
I've had T1R's on a previous car and in the wet they were simply dangerous. Why not just replace with PE2's?
 
Thats the reason i was asking mate as my Ph1 obviously had 15's

I wont skimp on the tyres as i dont like the running with a basin of water effect of cheap ones!

Just putting the feelers out Jamie, i know you seem to rate the PE2's

I think there are two Rainsports on the back at the moment
 
Yeah fair enough. I remember someone saying to try Khumo's. It may have been Warren.

Tyres which I've had and rated are:

Goodyear F1's - Good allround, don't sell anymore though?
Pirelli P Zero Nero - Good allround again, I liked these.
PE2's. Excellent allround, bum these.
 
If you're a bit skint they're fine, very good in the dry just take it a bit easier in the wet. If you've got the cash to spend though I'd go for something a bit more expensive.
 
Aye Alan they are a pretty good compromise for what they are i suppose!

Wait and see how im fixed next week :D
 
I'm beginning to not be a fan of PE2s anymore they seem really soft now my coilies are on :S

I'm trying to find something with stiffer sidewalls for the front for this reason and possibly going 195/45s too, the back will stay with PE2s though in 195 format again when the 205s are dead!
 
They are shockingly bad compared to the PE2's, I had two of each albeit on a 172cup, I swapped them from the front to the back and visa versa to compare them, get PE2's, they were designed for these cars.

T1R's are shockingly pish in anything other than bone dry cond, wear down quick too...

Goodyear F1's felt like they were made of jellly due to the softer sidewall, hated them

PE2'S FTMFW!!

I've had 5 RS Clio's and ran most tyre combinations, best tyre by far was Uniroyal Rainsports. Alan can vouch for how good they were! T-1r's are very good in the dry as we found out in Merk's EK9 BUT this is Scotland, so dry days are few and far between! Look what happened in the damp exiting the Clyde Tunnel! That wasn't me poking fun mate, just making a valid point! I plan to run T-1r's on the Ph1 but at £112 for 4, it wont cost alot to change! :D
 
I had them on my old 182 and almost went out and bought different tyres the same day as I thought they were that bad!

I ended up running them at stupidly low psi and they were a lot better.

Before this they felt like I was driving on glass and that's compared to the worn out standard tyres that were on!
 
t1rs were s**t in the wet but awesome in the dry. Bit "soft" though and they wore out very very quickly.

im running yokos s306 cant fault the tyre in anyway.. wicked tyre imo
 
I've always rated T1R's pretty highly - had some on the 15's on one end of the 182 when I had it, and ran them on the back of my VX220 too. Found them progressive when they broke away, but they are much better in the dry then the wet that's for sure.

A mate put a pair on the front of his 172 cup for a track day, and we pretty much wore them to the wear limiters just on that day though.

Currently got Goodyear Eagle F1 GSD3's on the S2000 - think they're excellent and have had them on numerous other cars - would say they're my favourite tyre ever for a road car. Think they've been replaced with eagle F1 Asymetric now, although I've not tried those. GSD3's still seem to be in stock in quite a few places.

Didn't really rate the PE2's that were on the 16" wheels I had on my 182 before I swapped to 15" wheels - found they'd grip quite hard, then suddenly break away. I prefer something that gives you a bit of a warning first.
 
it totally depends on the car, my mate wont go near eagle F1's on his 200sx but on my clios i used to swear by them untill i tried t1-r's and for the price i wouldnt go for anything else! now this will probably start an argument as its like slating jesus in a church but, in the wet my dci on t1-r's has more grip than my 172 on PE2's

in the dry they are much the same, on my previous 172 i found Eagle F1's better than PE2's

im not that impressed by pe2's and i wont buy another set, im going for R888's this time
 
I was not a fan of the goodyears they always had loads of grip, they just felt wobbly at the start of any cornering, hard to describe.

I've just gone from t1rs back to pe2s and tbh I don't think there is much bettween the 2.

Going to try hancooks next.
 
What a load of b****cks about being s**t in the wet! I drove Donington in the absolutely pissing down rain, I'm not talking drizzle, it was bouncing off the track. Donington is notoriously slippy anyway aswell and I had bags of grip. Never found myself thinking "oh my, these tyres are positively rubbish now its rained" on the road either.

Half the problem is driving to the conditions, or understanding that regardless of the tyre, there is never ever going to be anywhere near as much mechanical grip in the wet as in the dry.

dave i understand fully what you mean driving to the conditions, but compared to other tyres available the toyo's are hopeless in the wet, i hated them.
heres a list of my reccomendations.
pirreli p-zero nero
yokohama s-drive (very very under rated tyre.)
goodyear eagle f1, gsd2's are better in the wet, gsd3's are better the rest of the time.

and when it snows you want kingpin alpine remoulds.
 
I had Eagle F1's for a week and they were knackered. Granted, I drive very hard (when my car is on the road, lol) but thats rediculous. They felt very vague aswell, wether thats me putting to much heat into them or not, I'm not entirely sure. The T1R's have been very good on mine, make of that what you will.


Edit- The only thing I'd say was against them is the shoulder is quite soft when they're hot. Depends how hard you drive ;)
 
i had proxes and i hated them in the wet.. CHEAP lol
I am going to try hankook or kuhmo next, heard good things about these tires!.

I have got sport contact 3's on my twingo and my god they wear FAST!! lol
 
Went from pe2s to T1Rs and with my driving i cant tell any difference to be honest, But then again i dont drive overly fast on the road as i prefer to stay the good side of the police lol

my t1-r's will quite happily nail 190lb/ft to the ground in the pissing rain exiting a bend/roundabout in 2nd gear!! danny for the money you wont get a better tyre, infact id even say they are safe to drive thru the clyde tunnel with!!
 
I run T1R's on my mk1, I ran them on my 200sx. I like them and i like the price.

If i had the money, I'd use Bridgestone on everything
