Fiat Coupe 20v Turbo Review

  Fiesta ST Stage 3
As im a bit bored at work thought i would give a little review of the first month of the Fiat coupe 20v Turbo.

Performance

The car has 2.0 5 cylinder 20v turbo engine puting out 220-230 BHP and 230-240 lb/ft . 0-60 in 6 - 6.4 sec and 0-100 in 14.5 and a top speed of 150-160.

The performance is very good max torque comes in at 2500 rpm and max power at 5800 rpm 3rd gear is good for 100 mph. So far i have not come across anything to test the Coupe ( Saxo VTR & Fiesta ST ) but Straight line performance is not to far off my old EVO 4 .

Handling

Not to bad at all not in the leage of the Clio sport but by no means bad . There is loads of grip but not to much in the way of feel in the steering but quit happy with the handling .

Breaks

Very strong 310mm Brembo 4 pot up front and 260 at the rear . Break peadle has some trael to it but its more Progressive and has some real meat when you push a bit harder .

Looks

I think you like them or not . I do like all the sweeps and cuts and little bits like the door handle, rear lights, alloys etc

Cost

The best part about the car . his one cost me £ 1500 and has all the big jobs done Cambelt and all other belts , water pump , oil coolers, recon turbo, new manifold, . The insurance is £ 24 cheeper than the Clio and this is a insurance group 19 car  . The mpg is not amazing but then that goes with out saying if i try hard and keep it off boost might get 30 mpg.

Overall i love this car for the cost there is nothing with the performance or looks to touch it and as there quit rear now ( only 36 on pistonheads ) feel a bit special. It does have its fault but then so does every car . Think EVO mag sums it up Perfectly ..... So much speed and style for so little :approve:

Very nice car toy'd with the idea but im not 100%. Think i'd prefer an FTO Although N/A im pretty sure the Mivecs are 210 bhp? So still pretty nippy. Better looking imo and more reliable maybe? In ay case mate lovely motor glad you happy with her!

not to keen on the styling, but i went in one about ayear ago and it seem pretty fast, the one i went in walked all ove a 172 cup!

FTO. Wow. Possibly one of the biggest jokes ever.

210 bhp is right, plenty to be getting on with, but wont hold onto a 20v Turbo

Better looking in their later versions (or the fewofficial UK Ralliart ones) but, here's the pinch, they're so nasty inside, at least in the FIAT it'll look good as you're sat inside waiting for the RAC

There's never been a 210bhp FTO :p

GPX was 200ps (197bhp) and I don't think they make that on the dyno either

Sound nice, though

Mate of mine has a 20v coupe turbo, i personaly dont like the looks, but have got used to it over time, and it does go very well indeed, unfortunatly its very unreliable, always going wrong in one way or another ( including melting a piston on the way home from buying it doh!) luckily he knows how to fix it all so has saved a huge amount on garage bills etc, and as long as he knows something will always go wrong, he loves it!

F2slow's are gash in every way imo

  Cammed 182 :)
They arent actually that unrealible if maintained properly. They are silly quick for fwd standard I do miss mine :(

  Fiesta ST Stage 3
Well the only thing that has gone wrong so far is the exhaust has a big hole in the back box and is now hanging off :) .

Ironically my Coupe was one of the most reliable cars I owned. I only had to service it!

I personally love the looks. Although they look 100% with colour coded LE type side skirts. The interiors are great IMO and like Evo said great speed and style for the cash.

I did lollerskate a little at the toolstation who disses how the Coupe looks and drives a Megane Coupe.

Personally I think the Fiat Coupe is a classic. Quick question - whats the body work like on them - are they prone to any rust?

My mate has one. Theyre not bad. My mates remapped golf 1.8t was just a as quick.

Driving position is awful though!!

It was a AGU so has a K03s on a revo map i think? Not sure on power. Its quicker than a 182 pretty easily.

  Fiesta ST Stage 3
Well just a Revo stage 1 remap will see about 190 bhp and 220 lb/ft so with the biger KO3s should be much quicker that a 182 as you say.

I do like the Coupes. Especially the grey LE's. Is it moonstone the colour? ts just the driving position i dont like. They sound lovely too!

I dont think a mapped 1.8t golf would be just a quick as a standard coupe especially after when 3rd gear kicks in. The coupe when standard has boost limited in 1st & 2nd after then it would tear a mapped golf a new ****hole. But then if you went and mapped a 20vt then it would be away in to the distance by end of 2nd gear! lol

I have only had a play with a Saxo VTR and Clio 172 ff so far so could not comment on this but like i said in 3rd gear does feel nearly as fast as my old EVO 4 .

Haha whatever mate. Both of my very good mates have a coupe and a golf. Its been extensively tested trust me. ;) The only real difference is the length of the gears. The coupe being longer so you have to drive the golf harder.

Remapped 1.8T's are apparently no quicker than 172's according to here but again i know thats not the case with my mates. But it is a 02 plate so later spec with K03s. Now with other mods its quicker than the fiat. We beasted a mk5 R32 in it the other day. But if you dont beleive its all good. :)

  Fiesta ST Stage 3
Think it all depends on what map the golf is running . they can be mapped to 200 ish bhp very easy and like you say it has other mods so should make good power / torque

I spose there is always alot of factors. Id guess my mates was more like 215bhp tbh but its mint, only done 50k with a fvwsh etc I've owned some quick cars and there's no doubt its quick. But then its still modded vs standard..;)

So regardless, coupes are cool. Quick out of the box and awesome value for money!

Awesome. One of the lads that works for mercedes f1 has one running silly power. Built the motor himself, epic acceleration from what I've heard.
