182 to 200 ??

  Lotus Exige, 182
Waters Renault at St Albans were happy to match the Lookers deal on a clio 200 cup:

£999 deposit and £199 per month over 2 years, balance/gfv of about £8,400.

But when I specced UP the 200 FF I really wanted (black, speedlines, cup chassis, recarros and cup spoiler) it came to over 18k! Not paying that sort of cash for a clio, so now looking into the 250 megane cup which has most of the clio 200 stuff which I want as standard. My other half wouldn't appreciate the lack of aircon!

I was offered 5k px on my Arctic 05 182 with 34,000 miles and belts done.

I got offered 6.5k (at a struggle) for my LY back in August time so you'll probably need to take £500 to a grand off the private selling price!

Best going in and seeing what they can do for you mate - Just dont take there first offer.

u wont get much more than 5k for a 182 nowadays !

had mine for sale 2 years ago for 6.6 and didnt get one phone call in 3 months

Where can you spec out your clio? is it on the website?

Wouldn't mind having a cheeky look at it tbh and really consider getting one :)

According to parkers it should be around 5,700 privately. I'd have it up at 6 or so though - might not get it but you never know. Wouldn't advertise on here, people seriously undervalue their cars!

Options list and prices are on website. If you can pay cash they'll give you a decent discount but if on a finance deal, no chance. Lookers-matched deal is about the best around.

If it were me, I'd spec the aircon, no other options, red paint, pay upfront and keep the payments at 199 pm. Then decide what to do with it at end of 2 years.

I'd want Speedline and Recaros.

Would want it in White aswell, air con I'm not to sure... Hardly ever use my aircon is my 172, think I've used it twice this year so far. But it is a nice option to have.

I'd ask yourself why, mate. Are you going to track it a lot? If not, why do you want recaros, they're almost a grand? Remember, on a pcp deal you won't own the car till you pay off the gfv, of about 8.5k. Otherwise, you'll be paying more per month, or more up front, for options which make no real difference to you and which you'll be handing back to the dealer after two years. And if you hand it back, in 2 years the recaros will probably be quite worn - so you'll have to pay extra to fix them! F*** that.

Each to their own though, its your money. For example, if I like the megane on Saturday, I'm going to order one. Only option will be the RS monitor. Money down up front, 199 per month and hand it back in a couple of years when its in negative equity, I've got a baby and probably need a 5 door car (and if I don't, I'll still hand it back and get another one that won't have done about 10 track days!).

If the 200's as good as my 197 on the fuel it wont be bad mate as i can get 32/33 mpg without trying on the computer!

I have just got 190 to half a tank (motorway miles mainly from mine to and from Thorpe park) and still have a range of 199 left.

I think my 182 was only getting 350 to the tank @ 38/40 mpg so there is barely any difference unless the cars are cained everywhere to within an inch of there lives - I think when given beans the newer cars are more juicey.

Don't you do 5miles a week?? The 197/200 are a fair bit thirstier if driven the same way. There's no debate tbh.

Ooooh one big journey. Get you girlfriend.

Well one big journeys the same as any journey isnt it?

I posted pictures up on here of the MPG count on a previous tank over a good mile count so its no one off anyway.

I didnt know i had to drive my car everyday to be able to give a valid opinion on here worthy of your approval anyway. Troll.

they didnt want to match the lookers deal 2 weeks ago when i called them.

Go for the 250 fella. 1k extra and a capable and decently speced as standard

^ok, I spoke to them a few weeks before you did I think. They told me yesterday they'll match the megane deal though!

I'm going to have a look at one on saturday. Lots to consider but other half seemed quite keen, which is always the main barrier to overcome.

go for a really decent drive as that was my mistake the first time i took it out. Really give the meggy some beans and provided you can afford it blah blah the temptation is massive

I imagine the 250 is more capable, but I just don't find turbo's as enjoyable.

I'm the same but I think I need to drive a more modern turbo.

Well, Waters let me thrash the demonstrator 200 they had, at about 200 miles! Ran it right round to the redline a few times. Sure he won't mind me doing the same to the megane.

Had a blast in a few (golf mk5/6 gti, r26 etc). Can't match the responsiveness of NA, flip side being epic torque/tuning. I'm always worried about turbo's going pop on track after seeing a FRS implode a few yrs back.

I'm quite a torque fan, big diesel barges but in something more nimble I want N/A.

Don't say that, I would (probably, ahem) want to track mine!
