About to buy a 200 - advise please

Car  Discounted 1*2 parts
Test drove a 200 yesterday with the view to buying one (or getting one on the lease deal should I say). The model I drove was a gordini (what a disgusting looking car!) but nether the less it gave me a good idea of what I want.

I found the 200 with all the toys fairly bland (compared to my 172). How much more fun is the cup over the FF? This is what I'll consider buying.

My other decision is the colour. I'm paying silling amounts for a colour so that leaves me the standard racing blue or white. I'll be speccing the black speedlines so if anyone can post pics to help that would be great.

Also I was originally planning on selling the 172 in order to make space for the 200 but now am considering taking the 172 off the road and purely using it for track days.

Any input would be great.

Tom

The cup chassis/suspension and steering make a big difference over the regular 200.

Colour wise, white or RB both look good - personal choice really.

As for the speedlines -

:)

Sell the 172. Keeping them both is pointless and the cup will feel much better on track. Plus its got warranty etc.

Keeping the 172 is a good idea if you were buying a Corsa Diesel, but you're buying an awesome track car. So get rid of the 172 and use the money for tyres/fuel/tuition.

I would agree with that, the only issue is the amount of strain your putting on the 200. If you bin it your also without a car, depends on your finance situation as to whether you can afford it i suppose.

Get 200 with cup chassis- best of both worlds!

That's what I've gone for in White but ive seen a racing blue with black speedlines and that looks the nuts too!

Both colours i think a pretty nice, i ordered glacier white with black speedlines, had a close look at one and really liked it, but i still think the RB is a nice colour! Dont see the point in paying silly money for some of the other colours! prefer the interior on the cup and to be honest have all the gadgets on my 182 cup pack and hardly ever use them, plus i tihnk just more to go wrong.

Im keping my 182 just cos i can afford it and still love the car!

Personally, as someone who changes their mind every 5 minutes, like me, I wouldnt go signing up to a two year finance deal.

When you get bored, changing will cost you an absolute fortune...

When you strip this one, make sure you keep all the parts for when you want to put it back to standard 4 days later.

Small write up in the fast fleet section, and they use a sport chassis in the hot hatch test.

I don't get the £500 option for the black roof, when you've already paid £xxxx to Renault for them to spray the car...seems stupid to have to pay more for the roof a different colour.
Had it been free then I'd have ticked that box also :)

I don't understand why you people say that Gordini is awful. When I went to the stealer I straight away knew which one I want. I guess its very subjective - love it or hate it.

Seriously tempting with that pic, RB is the only colour of choice for me, except wheels I refuse to pay for any option when its going back to them in 2 years.

Whats the crack with trackdays and the £200 a month deal? There's nothing to say you cant track it is there, just presume if you fail to insure and crash it you'll be buying it. Also, if you were to right it off, and it was replaced by insurance, would renault accept this back at the end or would you have to pay the balloon and sell the car to cover it?

Yeah, it does look mint there.

Trackdays. Don't tell them. Don't crash. If you binned it on a track, you're proper fucked TBH. Would be worth looking into track insurance. If you were to right it off in a normal accident, then that's just life. I'd imagine you having it replaced would be fine and the dealer would just accept that. They'd be getting a newer car back at the end (potentially) so I don't see them arguing.

I'll realistically only be doing 4 track days a year anyway so prob a good idea to free up the cash from the 172, as said the 200 will probably be better on track anyway!

This is something i want to get out of the habbit of and I'll still have the DCI to play around with anyway

The wise mans choice for a free option colour is Ultra Red, simple as that. Other than that, cup chassis & Black Speedlines.

HTH.

Seeing those RB photographs make me glad I ordered it in that colour. Looks great. Might be tempted to buy the rear spoiler at some point too.

LY is so 2007. Not worth paying a premium for.

If I had the money I'd get alien green, but i'd have to be rich to bring myself to pay that for a colour.

Black is now not available on the Cup (and is a cost option), but the best 200 colour :)

lol, good luck with that one.

I got a company car to try & ditch the habit.

9 months later, id gone through two company cars, bought another personal car, then bought another one, then sold the 2nd company car.

I've had my 2nd Trophy about 2 weeks & im looking on Autotrader again :S

storm grey, cup chassis, black speedlines, xenons, recaro's etc, no silly spoilers though!

you need to get gap insurance to cover the difference, if you crash it under normal conditions. This will pay the difference between what your insurance pays out and how much it is for a new car. Resulting in you getting a new car again.

If you shop around you shouldn't be talking much more than a tenner a month.....

That £200 a month deal finsihes end of sept i'm sure..........

i got clio 200 in liquid yellow with recaros, cup spoiler, black speedlines, cup chassis and more its a stunning looking car.
