HELP!!! 182 wont rev and a heavy smell of eggs

Problem started last night, started car and it ran lumpy and wouldnt rev over 2k then it was fine. Started car up this morning and Emissions warning light was on and the same thing again, got about 100 yards down the road then a heavy burning eggy smell. Any ideas?? Smells like its CAT related,. PLEASE HELP

Thats what i thought, I,ve heard the coil pack can cause a similar problem due to only firing on a few cylinders

It's missfiring , that's why it smells. Probably be a plug lead/ plug or coil pack.

When mine smelt eggy it was misfiring, because the coil packs had gone, but if the emission light is on it could be the lamba or cat.

sorry to hijack, but i occasionally get the eggy smell too with no lights on dash, is it the same prob as plugs coilpack etc?

Well if it is the coil pack/plus/leads then the emission light would come on as tha car is not running well ie, lean/rich

Interesting read. Mine stinks a bit, too. Occasionally misfires as well. Any idea of the cost for new leads and coil pack (you'll also need a gasket for the plenum and a seal for oil breather)?

Gasket and seal can be re-used if in good condition

Had a look to see if anything was loose and checked plugs and HT leads all ok i think, each time i start the car it runs fine for a while then starts to run lumpy and the emissions light comes on, code is PO135. So are we talking coil pack or lambda sensor

All sorted now, waited till it got dark and saw a nice arc on one of the leads, so gonna tape it up for now and order some new ones.
