iPhone 4 travel dock/speaker system thing

  Bus w**ker
Morning,
I've tried searching but I'm on my phone and can't find jack. I've currently got a Logic3 i-station 7 (http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/5240322.htm?_$ja=tsid:11527%7Ccc:%7Cprd:5240322%7Ccat:home+entertainment+and+sat+nav+%2F+ipod+and+mp3+accessories+%2F+ipod+docking+stations+and+speakers+%2F) iPod dock for when I'm stuck in shitty hotels with nowhere to plug my iPod in to, the sounds awesome and it goes more than loud enough but it's not iP4 compatible, so whilst it will play my music it won't charge my phone at the same time and I get annoying warning messages on screen. Not a huge problem but I'd prefer not to drain battery.

So can anyone recommend a good dock? Must be able to run from mains power, be lightweight(ish), compact, have good sound quality, go fairly loud, fully iP4 compatible and under £100...although I could be tempted over that.

Ta!

Is the sound quality actually any good with that? I'll be honest it looks...errm s**t and cheap so I'd expect it to sound tinny, distorted and mono. If that's not the case then for the price and size it could be ideal...well apart from lack of mains power but like you say a charger and some decent AAAs would get around that.

I was just reading a few reviews and the Altec Lansing inMotion Compact get's some high praise and it's only £36 at Dixons. Macworld UK put it in second place in it's test in August, only beaten by the much more expensive iHome iP49 which comes with so many features I don't need and will never use and a lot more weight.

I paid £4.99 for my orbit. Was amazed at the sound considering its mono.

I was given the JBL On Stage III for xmas. No qualms here. Goes loud enough and sounds decent for the size. works with iphone 4 although it's not shielded so may still get interference if somebody is calling.

Can also run off 6 x AAs so can be taken outside etc.

Dixons have got both Altecs in stock and the JBL, so I'll just take a run in tomorrow lunch and see which one is better for me. I love the size of the Orbit but I can see it's distorting with anything with bass in it when the volumes pumped up a bit. The inMotion Compact is currently leading just because of the price compared to the JBL...but that said I can't figure out from the pictures just how big the thing is, it doesn't scream compact to me. I'm now having to rush getting a new one as I've just agreed to go away for a week on Sunday.

Ive one as well and its a thumbs up from me. Its actually not bad running on batteries either if you have to use them.
