Clutch :(

True to form everything seems to be going wrong at once.

The clutch pedal has tonnea of play in it. If I tap it with my foot as you would do if you were tapping your feet to a tune, there is atleast an inch of travel where it just flaps about.

Ive also noticed that there is virtually no resistance when letting the clutch out when setting off and I'm having to rev the car more to set off on a hill from bitin point.

There was a loud bang under the car the last Saturday butthe car didnt feel any different after it so assumed it was something I'm the road hitting it.

Any ideas?

if its slipping then you need a new clutch, i had mine done last week with a full service cost £300 all in

if its slipping you need a new one, your possibly just paranoid (it happens to us all) once its in your head its stuck there, do you know an experienced driver that can have a feel?

if i were you id just stick the cash aside for now, youl know when it REALLY needs done

Its a hell of a lot different. ive driven plenty of cars and i know enough to know that something is up. ive not checked the fluid levels for it yet (which one is it in the bay?) but there is no resistance when letting the clutch out and when reversing it struggles to reverse just off the clutch.

its happened over a few days and im just worried its going to get worse. i have 0 money at the moment as it all went on xmas, birthdays and stuff. the first few months of the year are terrible. all my family are born in the first couple or december lol.

the missus will buy me it for my bday in 2 weeks though (obv i can have it early cause im amazing lol)

if the fluid level is okay is it going to be the clutch plate/release bearing???

also today the gearbox has felt really clunky like when you havent put the clutch in quite far enough (even though its to the floor)

yes you can do it yourself i woudn't recommend anyone to do it if they have not done things similar before or don't have knowledge on replacing a clutch(even tho they are a doddle).

were only younguns. he lives with his parents.

he can do clutch changes but cant do it at work. his boss is a cnut.

i heard you only need a socket set and enough room to get under the car (easily achieveable with axel stands) he has other tools at home but just not the full selection he does at work.

i find the fact you've got play on the pedal is a strange one. if the clutch is going should you still have tension all the way through the pedal travel? (general question to anyone)

probably worth checking the clutch cable at the gearbox end to make sure it's operating correctly (you'll need two peeps obviously)
