1.2 8v limp mode issue

  volkswagen polo 6n
hey guys, first post and its a problem with my friends clio 1.2 8v 2001

its having that stupid limp mode issue upon starting sometimes, and i've searched google etc but only seem to find a solution for 1.2 16v's but none for the 8v.

has anybody encountered this problem with the 8v? we've had it hooked up to a diagnostics machine and fault codes for the throttle body, accelerator pedal, lambda and o2 sensors and ECU came up. any help would be greatly appreciated.

What were the codes? Do they all come back upon clearing them?

What solution is this I'm having the same problem atm?

well after researching, the most common problem is a wiring harness issue, called up renault and they said a modified harness is available, but only for the 16v. So i'm assuming for your 16v you'll probably need to purchase the modified loom.

What were the codes? Do they all come back upon clearing them?

I cant remember the codes off the top of my head dude. we got them cleared a few months ago during a normal service but the car wasnt having the limp mode problem. Then it started limping and the same codes were back.

Does anybody have a pic of the 1.2 8v engine with the ECU, throttle body and everything labelled? Its such a random and confusing engine :S

Check the metal guard that covers the ECU - Has it been rubbing on the ECU loom and creating a bad circuit ?
