Sanding down diamonds?

Do you have to use wet and dry, sorry if this sounds like a stupid question can you not use sandpaper?

low grit wet and dry to start as the chrome is quite hard, then work way down the grits to around 400.

Nooooooooo other way around

Start with lower grits, but be gentle with them. If the scratches you make are too deep, they'll come through in the paint.

Work your way up to higher grits like 1200 wet and dry, then 1500 wet and dry.
