Noob lookin for his 1st Clio !

Hi all,
My names Dan im 18, iv just passed my test and im itching to get my 1st car.
I realy want a clio and i thought were better to start looking before i buy ,
I only have a 2 grand realy to get me something i realy want something cheap to insure and as new as possible,
If any one could give me any pointers on what to look for (issues etc) i would be most grateful.

Erm not a clue really, but I've heard the dynamic and extreme models are the best.
1.2 will be good for your age.
Don't modify it at all, just build up your no claims and buy a sport when your insurance drops!

Hi Dan,

For that money your probably looking at a 2003/2004 model, I would suggest a 1.2 16v dont touch the 8v ones as they are really gutless and fuel econemy is not that great either. As you will know there are always loads for sale so try and find a nice unmolested(not modified) one or two owner example with full service history and a years MOT. Ive owned a couple of 1.2 16v's over the years and never had any real issues with them, pretty good reliable wee cars if you keep them serviced well.

i already have the 1.2 in mind (couldnt insure anything else)So is there anything thats a common fault that i should be looking for when i go to do some viewings ? ( i will have an older brother with me to check all the normal stuff)

If your definetly getting a clio i would suggest you become a member on here, there is a wealth of knowledge/guides etc in the members section (including buyers guide) if you own a clio its well worth the membership fee.
