What do you guys think of these?

I can fully understand how working with CF would be a complete ballache, but the examples, judging by the pictures from the OP, look like they were carried out by drunk, blind Vietnamese 8 years olds with ADHD!

Do the right thing and give the OP his money back. Who knows, you might even save a few customers on here, but I doubt it! You've made your bed etc.....

That is the worst workmanship I have seen in a long time.

Hope this poor lad has finally got his money back

Funny how we've got an influx of carbon experts now on the forum, when most buy fake stuff thats been wrapped in 3M carbon vinyl!

Anyone who knows real carbon weave knows that it is rarely straight and often has imperfections.

Not defending the aggressive tone to M40 CU0's responses however, a refund should have been issued by now.

Let's hope that you guys can sort this out.

My opinion for what it's worth is, give him his money back and you take the mirrors.

If you are confident in the quality of the product, photograph them honestly and stick them on the for sale board.

You are also involved right now in a damage control exercise as this could send your cottage industry down the pan so doing the right thing will help both of you.

Oh, and from now on I'd recommend that you buy the items, cover them and then sell on the for sale board with pics from all angles.
That way, your customers know what they are getting up front and this sort of thing shouldn't happen again.

Won't be using this guy. Hope he can save some face and refund some of the money.

I'm not sure how much the materials are, but £200 seems alot for an amateur who has only done 6 sets of them. Even if they have done other parts.

The opportunity cost of not sorting this out swiftly has cost you potentially thousands in future lost revenue. Congrats...hope it was worth it for a few quid.

Ive sent the guy a pm explaining Ive taken advice and drafted a letter to both Trading Standards and the Inland Revenue to check registration with them. At present I havent sent them and waiting to see if he will come through and do the right thing. If he refunds me, I wont take any further action in the matter, I will be happy and will gladly send the mirror bases back for him to put on his own car or sell. (Bear in mind I bought and sent the mirror bases myself to be skimmed...I think thats more than fair)

Some key points.

1) The quality of your work that was sent compared to the pictures is awful. The work you've photographed yourself looks brilliant. That matters for nothing when shoddy work appears in the hands of a paying customer.

2) Looch has been incredibly patient and polite. He didn't name you and hasn't resorted to insults. You however, have been an illiterate, rude customer service nightmare.

3) The legal bits posted are 100% fact. If he takes this to small claims court, which costs c.£35, then you will lose. No doubt about that.

Do the right thing and refund him. He doesn't want a replacement. That's his decision. If you're so confident in your work and that Looch is totally wrong, then you can sell them on to someone else and recoup your money.

The only rude person on here are the people ie you who think they can take the piss out of me (illiterate) with no respect and I havent been rude once.

I won't refund him no, if he does not want a replacement then thats his problem I have offerd to exchage them as the law states I am intitald to, Its up to him I have been to my soliciter and its entialy in his hands I have offerd an exhange as im intitald to he won't take it, I wounder why.

The only reson why he does not want them is because his replacement wing mirrors arrived from the person who he bought them off with damage to the wirring and the temp sensor etc and are from an older clio so he cant swap his good parts from the v6 to them wich he new before I coverd them as I told him so.

I made him aware of everything and have proof so he has no leg to stand on.

Get your faxs right before you speak because the majority of the people who have spoken don't no whats been sed trough pm's from the verry bagining.

Im not an area rep I havent been one in years, and if I was I wouldant want to associate myself whit people like you.

Fair enough if you're dyslexic, but is it really that hard to install a spell checker plugin/extension for your browser? I'd seriously suggest it. Whilst some people don't appreciate correct spelling and grammar, the majority of us do. It makes a huge difference to how you are perceived as a person, especially if you're operating a business. Personally if I had asked you for a quote and I got a response back with the those kinds of spelling mistakes I wouldn't even bother replying to you.

At the very least print this out:

offerd - offered
intitald - entitled
entialy - entirely
wounder - wonder
wirring - wiring
coverd - covered
faxs (LOL) - facts
sed - said
trough - through (unless you're talking about what pigs and cows eat from!)
verry - very
bagining - beginning
wouldant - wouldn't (shortened version of 'would not')
whit - with

Wow 3 years later you finaly remove my area rep status even after telling you to remove it.

Yes I made a typo when typing becouse I unlike some have a life... I have better things in my life than to go over my spelling to satisfy you lot...

Good luck suing me for your mistakes in not reading what you were buying in our pm's, and the terms and condition, I hope for your sake you have a good solisitor if your going to try to sue an Americas Cup Yacht Designer... We will now be suing you for slander. To slander someone means to say untrue things about them in order to damage their reputation.

If I was you id take me up on my offer as a company like ours your out of you league.

TBH, it's only been you who's damaged your reputation being so aggressive, the OP never actually mentioned your name until you came in all guns blazing. Being rude to Admin isn't exactly going to do your reputation with this site any favours either.

I don't think we need to be told what the word "slander" means off someone who can't even spell "because".

Mate you are fucked. car parts are clearly not a product of the yacht company and im almost certain you havent told the inland revenue about your little venture.

I will be watching over this carefully as i think the court case will be hilarious.

Giving you every benefit of the doubt, you are commiting business suicide. If you get any more work from this site, I will be surprised. Take a breath, calm down and read these posts carefully. Knowing about CF and how to work with it is not relevant any more, businesses live and die on their reputation. The first thing that happens when you get poor service is to tell everyone else not to use that supplier.

You need to put yourself in the client's position before you next post.

It also needs to be said that mis-spelling most of your words with very poor grammar, makes you look like a fool. Don't blame everything else because you couldn't be bothered to check what you were writing before you posted it. You don't get a second chance to make a first impression.

Being literate does not mean you have no life. I do hope that outside of internet forums you actually make an effort with your spelling and grammar.

Also, a typo usually means you've pressed the wrong key by accident. If all of your spelling mistakes genuinely are typos then I can only assume you have some seriously deformed hands.

Anyway, enough of that.

I hope for your sake you have a good solisitor if your going to try to sue an Americas Cup Yacht Designer

LOL. What has that got to do with anything?

But thats your dad, not you! Unless the moulds are being done by his company and not yours. Which would make sense, seeing as your CV says you work for Lingards as bar staff.

My suggestion is that you sort this out. You clearly have a talent, both from your pictures on here, & your cv on the web. Seriously, dont cut off your nose to spite your face :)

For christ sake calm down and get this sorted. did you do this through the works books? if not then he'll be sueing you not a company. You identified yourself therefore no slander as nothing Looch has said is directly aimed at your reputation, just the goods in question. As for knowing what he is buying, the pictures posted of said goods do not match those pictured as examples. SIMPLES.

This could have gone so much better but now I have no sympathy for you or your attitude. Would you expect to be dealt with like this if you bought something.:dapprove:

Well I was following this last night then decided to go to bed. Got work in a mo' and thought Id check it out expecting that perhaps this had come to some adult conclusion. Oh how wrong I was. its almost unbelievable how this has grown into such a debate! GIVE THE GUY A REFUND! And to prove Im neutral (although not endorsing the sellers behaviour) perhaps the buyer, mate if you know people that work with carbon get them to do it a you wouldn't have had to muck about with this.
Oh and Im pretty sure I read this perviously

"...as I did say to my gf/dad who is an Americas Cup Yacht designer..."

I thought it was your dad? In any case what does that have to do with anything, thats pretty threatening behaviour to someone who simply wants his money back!!!!!!!!

!. You need to have a reputation before it can be damaged.

2. This is, if anything, libel, not slander.

3. Where has the Americas Cup link come from?

4. Settle this FFS and move one. Tis will end badly for you. Infact it already has.

Is this guy for real?!

First off, lets ignore the spelling and grammar etc. This isn't about that. It's about an unhappy customer.
Stop bringing that up, and address the relevant issues here.

Do you really think he just doesn't want them because of wiring and damage?
OR maybe...He doesn't want them because of the poor finish on the carbon!

Also having atleast studied contract law, and taxation at different levels I'd say it's safe to say you are the one with no leg to stand on.
(unless it's a carbon fibre leg, but tbh I wouldn't have much faith in that either if it's your own creation)

It doesn't matter what you said to him, he has his own rights aswell, look at the posts people have made about consumer rights.

Also, he is right, are you registering all of this with HMRC?
To take just 1 of many badges of trade, please see BIM20210, available to all on the HMRC website
"Evidence that the sole object of acquiring an asset was to re-sell it at a profit, without any intention of holding it as an investment, is a pointer to the conclusion that a trade is being carried on."
For case law, please see the website.

Oh btw. If I'm ever in court can someone remind me to hire a yacht designer so I don't get in trouble....Thanks!

LOL.

Good luck with Daddy's legal team, pathetic.

You've supplied parts that are unsatisfactory and to save all of this just needed to give the guy a refund, Instead you now have a legal case to fight (and lose) and no future custom

M40, you really dont seem to understand.

You sold the product by distance selling.
Which means he is covered by distance selling regulations
Which, as the vendor, you MUST honour.
Any solicitor who passed UK civil law (as in, all of them) will wash their hands of this immediately.

If you need this translating into the pigeon english you deem acceptable to use with your clients then I'm sure someone can do that. Your excuse of "too busy to bother" on something as menial as grammar, spelling and punctuation doesn't exactly fill people with faith in your work.

"excuse me, why is this product not up to standard"
"ye cuz iz 2 bizy to bee bovvered innit, yor problum deel wiv it"

Finally, this argument does not hinge on the quality of the product, even if it was the mst perfect piece of automotive art, your customer would still have all right to return it, without any reason, provided they let you know within 7 working days, starting from the date of which they recieve the goods.

I've tried to think of loopholes on how this could be struck out, the only possible route would be that no contract is formed, no "meting of minds", however, there was offer, acceptance, consideration and giventhat you are unknown to each other, I very much doubt you can argue no intention of legal relations.

Ever heard of the Unfair Terms Act?

You cannot force people to waive statutory rights, period.

I'm sat with 5 solicitors now, for a laugh I sent them the link to this post.

Cutting a long story shoret, there was a lot of aghast-looking faces, laughing in disbelief..... then they actually managed to work out wot yuz wuz on abowt.

Of course your solicitor will take it on, you're going to pay him hand-over-fist regardless of the outcome. Unless he's no-win, no-fee of course, but if they're part of a reputable firm of skilled and talented professionals, this is not likely.

Just stop being northern about it and get your wallet out, now, while it'll only cost you the value of materials and time

You have never used carbon from this alone you have no clue...

lmao. No point telling me what i do and dont know. You prob didnt have enough CF for the part so stretching was your solution. Big fail mate. Carbon fibre doesnt need stretching. Vinyls are applied like this but i think you dont have a clue. I see carbon day in, day out and parts havent looked no where as scruffy as what youve tried to pass on.

All mouth...

Jesus christ your a f**king moron. Over a £200 expense you have just managed to lose yourself a load of custom and will have a legal matter in your hands, which your going to lose due to distance selling laws.

The buyer seems to be very patient with you too which is the worst thing, if I recieved a part from you that looked shocking and poor quality for such a high amount of money id have demanded a refund straight away and returned the items.

If you say the parts are as good as you claim them to be then accept the refund, make the seller happy, sell on the reutned item to another person seeing as it is so great, your happy, sellers happy, everyones happy. Your business management skills are poor judging by this whole thread and you seem like an uptight c**t.
