MPG Shock

Just driven the cup down south, covered 300 Miles average MPH was around 65 on the trip, although seemed to be sitting more between 70-75 on the motorways.....

and the returned MPG? ............43MPG!!!

I'm genuinely shocked, the car is well looked after and serviced very regularly so not sure if that has anything to do with it

if im stuck in traffic on my way home, sitting at 55-60 i can get 47.8! i was proper shocked when this happened!

That's one of the reasons why i'm keeping my car for a while, drive it like a nutter and it's hugely fun, drive it slowly and get decent mpg.

Sounds like you need to sell it to someone who will drive it as intended ;)
Oh it gets used properly dont you worry ;) Just thought I'd see what I could get out of it, not much fun to be had on motorways anyway

I did 2 hours up the M1 last friday, the diffs fucked on my car so I stuck the cruise on at 60, and had a nice drive up.

Got 48mpg?! Normally I only manage 26.

@30MPH in fifth mine used to read 80mpg on the dash on a 3mile stretch of road I used to go to work on, prob b****cks but strangely pleasing

Jesus mate my record is only 34 lol...maybe ive got a heavey foot lol. I'll see what it does on the way to/from the FCS...You still going down pal??

I keep a spreadsheet for my mileage and I consistently average around 42mpg. And that is calculated.

A spreadsheet? A spreadsheet?!?

Commitment to budgeting there.

If I'm not in the mood for bean-deployment, I can pull 40mpgs out of the 172 on decent-length runs (or if the pay day is a way away and the low-fuel light is near)

I keep a spreadsheet on repair bills.

Had to export it out to Access though, Excel ran out of room

That's taking things too far. Not the spreadsheet, the fact that you reckon you used all 60k odd rows in excel :/

On topic: I saw 50.0 MPG once but then had to stop at some traffic lights. There are plenty of threads if anyone wants to brag.

You lot must drive like boring old farts to get that sort of MPG.

I think the thing that shocked me most was this was over 300 miles, not just a quick reset whilst going down a hill off the throttle for a mile. They are really good on fuel but I can't help squeeze the loud pedal.

how often does your mpg change on dash? mine just keeps going up every week by 0.1, no matter how i drive. is this right??
