Hi people,

After enjoying reading through Clio Projects i decided to post my own. Basically this car has gone through 3 stages.

Stage 1: When i bought it (Chrome)
Stage 2: Getting it to how i wanted..
Stage 3: INSURANCE!

Essentially whilst half way through getting the car to how i would like it, i renewed my car insurance. BUT although this is usually an easy process, this time is was a ball ache. The dreaded e-mail from the insurance asked me to provide pictures of: Both sides, Front & Back, Engine Bay and Interior. At this point i had only declared my tints as they didn't change the price of insurance. I'll explain the mods as i go along (with pictures).

Trip to ASK (like Halford but better) for spray paint:
The alloys on the left hand side were kurbed (Not heavily but enough to notice). So me and my friend Josh sprayed them gloss black. As the side trim was fadded and back-to-black didn't provide the finish i wanted, then we gave it a coat of some left over gloss black

Do not worry people, at the current time i have standard rear lights and it has improved the looks tenfold

I am the same, when i bought the car i was looking for something standard and i was going to get one from K-tec. The moment i noticed that exhaust i knew it had to be mine. After buying it i researched: Predator Motorsport, and they actually specialise in Motorbike's exhausts! Probably why it sounds so good.

And as for the insurance i have no idea! I have been with Flux Direct before and they have not asked for any pictures, nor have any single person i know been asked for pictures from any insurance group :S

After i tidyed up the alloys and trim, i coated the calipers and drums in Hammerite Smooth Silver. I then bought a black vinyl sunstrip and uprgraded the sounds from standard

Fli Sounds System:

(Before everything was all wired up and installed)
- Back speaker wires were extended to the parcelshelf and two holes were cut out for the 6x9's -
- Then i ran the amp power cable down the left side and the bass booster & rem down the right -

It's Flux Direct, who i am with now, that asked for the pictures. And unfortunately i don't have any pics from under the car at the minute. As for furture mods, i would like to get a 4-2-1 Manifold and 200 sports cat to add to the Predator Motorsport cat back

It seems you've got at least twice as many exhausts on show as you need.

And sunstrips....... sorry, I just can't think of anything positive to say about them, unless you're being sponsored to have it?

Finally, are those side windows actually legal?

aah sorta makes sense... flux deal more with modified cars so i see why they wanted pics

Each to there own, i personally like this type of thing hence why i modded it this way.

The sunstrip and the "legal" front windows makes it very hard for people to see inside the car as they block alot of light. My future plans were to blackout the sunroof with vinyl and re-work the interior colour to black also.

Next came time to buy some new alloys! The 17"s were costing me more on fuel and slowing the car down.

So i bought some RenaultSport Megane 225 alloys in Silver then added a few touches of my own:

Gloss Black with an Iceberg Silver mist. I took off the Renault badges to spray them Iceberg Silver aswell.


Then say hello to my Apex 40mm Springs

(It looks lower because it's parked on the kerb)

I have no pics, but under the bonnet i had installed a K&N Full induction kit and a K-Tec racing Carbon front strut brace.
The next plans i had was standard tail lights and then i got the dreaded e-mail asking for pictures from the insurance! :/

F.L.O.L. Maybe we should turn the "why monster?" thread into a pics thread...


And it was going so well up till now, horrendous wheels had gone, megane wheels on, lexus lights gone, acceptable tints, strangley acceptable exhaust!

The combination of a monster sticker, front tints and sunstrip (though at least it's a proper, functional, straight sunstrip not a "my nigh-on-completely-standard shopping trolley is a rally car" sunstrip) make it look like just another fail local-rudebwoi/chav/ricer/whatever-you-wanna-call-it rather than a "nicely done" car. Has the sun roof been tinted, or do they all look that dark from outside?

hmm, glad you changed the wheels,

but i wouldnt expect this to get too much love on cliosport.net.
most of the mods seem a little......chavy?! and those windows are crying for attention!!

also, if youre front on insurance (im not sure if i read that wrong) just dont talk about it, youll just get flamed by everyone on here if you admit to lying to your insurance company!!

Has the sun roof been tinted, or do they all look that dark from outside?

That is standard, it looks darker becuase of the little sleeve that pulls across when you have the sunroof open. As for the front tints and the monster sticker... The tints were done by the previous owner as pictured and I took the sticker off.

I hoped to clasify the car as slightly de-chavved from when i bought it. Considering i removed the alloys and lexus lights. I wasn't expecting much from some of the posts i've seen on here but just thought i'd show people the history of my car from when i bought it to now.

And my first year of having the car i declared literally everything! This was becuase the price rarely varied, but when it came to my second year and switching to flux that's when it hit me. The price for declaring the mods would of cost me alot more compared to previous. That's when I put the car back standard-ish and only left the tints and exhaust (to which i declared)

No code, it's my own concoction: Hycote Gloss Black base with an Icebery silver mist sprayed over the top.

Update: This is what it looks like now.

Bought some standard alloys for cheaper insurance and once again sprayed these up black

After been wanting a H.I.D Conversion for a while now i finally purchased one:

They have been, and didn't really make that much of a difference tbh. The things that make it skyrocket were: Lowered, Alloys, Exhaust and Induction Kit.

I just decided the exhaust was worth it

Yeah, it's just seems to have that potential with it having being manufactured by a Motorbike specialist

My plans were for an adapted 182 manifold and sports cat to fit the cat back, but i am also very tempted with just a de-cat!

Ah, should of mentioned that the monster sticker had come off & that the front tints are going - will look much better! I think the 182 wheels looked alright, shame that they have to go because of insurance (but then the state of car insurance is just a shame anyway!)

Why do people buy HIDs (srs question) Presumably they think it looks good/expensive/stand-out and try to justify it by telling everyone they want to see better at night? I just think they look so bad (because they look expensive) on a very non-expensive looking car like a Clio of this age. It'd be like having a gold or platinum bonnet, just looks stupidly expensive compared to the rest of the car. Xenons give great vision and looked sick in combination with my 182 exhaust, 182 body kit, 182 suspension, 182 wheels, 182 interior, 182 paint and 182 performance to back the rest of it up. What's wrong with Osram Nightbreakers any more?
