great. 2200 miles on the clock, pulling up through the revs on the motorway and suddenly BANG, engines knocking its head off, car shuddering and cuts out.

hope my curtisy car is half decent!

Is it a new car (IIRC it is) or is it 2200 miles into your ownership? My courtesy car bet is on a 1.5 DCI Kangoo :p

Keep us posted on what the problem is & the customer service.

Not good, also id rather have the renault flatulance then a kangoo lol!

Im sure Renault will be.. Renault

"Right the notes say catastrophic rear view mirror failure, so ive replaced and upgraded it to a wing mirror. Hopefully we can get this blokes Lupo up and running before Jeremy Kyle comes on as my mate Daves on there having triple lie detector dna results done as he reckons his youngest belongs to next doors dog"

2 months old im the first owner. bloddy renault. on the phone to my favourite dealers trying my hardest to stay calm at their "were fully booked until next week and have no curtisy cars" attitude.

it genuinely sounds like somethings let go in the engine.

Reliable then?

Bit of a shame that. People start to question the car even aftre it's fixed. Not a good start.

If you are having problems get onto renault customer service, they can help sort it.

Good luck, this was my courtesy car wehen the 200 went in:

They wouldn't cover me on their own insurance so I added it to mies with a vaue of 8k and faxed the garage a copy of the certificate. 2 minutes later I had the service guy screaming down the phone cause it was worth more than 8k LOL.

Haha! Couldn't stop laughing at that!

AA have just recovered it, guy said it sounds like bottom end failure, woop woop!!!!

got a big f**k off diesel mondaeo, its the most strange handling car ive ever driven! horrible!

nearly 2 months lol, waiting to see the final diagnosis before i take any action, could end up being something silly but for something to be proper knocking and banging loudly and loss of engine power that doesnt sound good to me!

exchange or refund are perfectly within your rights in this case.

unless you've "modded" it, at all

Thats brilliant! :D (What you did, not the car obviously)

Gutted for you mate.

Makes you think twice about buying new sometimes :(

Blimey. Would not want that particular block back, ever.

New car + extras for nearly killing you on the motorway I think!

i think pretty much regardless of whats happening with it it will be getting a new engine, what i decide to do with it after that we will see! not sure i want a performance car that cant stand up to the way a performance car should be driven!

id be wanting a new one to be honest. think about selling that on mate, with a replacement engine. some buyers wouldnt mind, personally i would though. straight away you (or renault) will have reduced your market

if it's going to take an "unreasonable" amount of time to repair (and this is from the day they confirm what the fault is and how they pledge to resovle it) then you can demand replace or refund.

What is unreasonble? well, that's not for you individually to decide.....or CS for that matter as it would require a "reasonable person", which doesn't have to the the buyer or seller.

How long would a good engine swap take normally? If it takes much longer than that then you can start pushing for compensation if it's your only transport (taxi's, buses etc. Although getting taxi's everywhere wouldn't go down well as you didn't mitigate your own losses).

Good luck with it

Its probably just one dodgy engine. Its upsetting but I wouldn't be too hasty.

This.

Replacement of car or refund is the way I would look at it.
