handbrake

parked up on my drive last night, ( its quite steep ) went to put the handbrake on and it nearly went through the roof! still seemed to work, but felt as though something had either just let go or slackened off a lot, anyway i did not trust it so parked the car on the front of the house where it is flat just to be safe, any ideas what has happened, before it goes to the garage, wont be till monday now

oh yes, i kept it in gear and dont park on any hills at the moment if i can help it, will get it looked at his week. sounds like it could be something like that with the way it feels
