"Renault is to reinvent the Gordini brand as the ‘ultimate track-focused car’," after confirmation from Chief Operating Officer Carlos Tavares.
"The name will be used on the company’s most specialist track-only offerings and sit alongside Renault’s established performance division, Renaultsport.

"Most recently, the Gordini name has been used on special editions of the Twingo, Clio and Wind, but modifications have been restricted to styling updates."

Tavares said: "Gordini will be a step towards Renaultsport cars in future. "A Gordini will only be sold for the road as a derivative of a special track car." Tavares also confirmed "the continued operation of the Renaultsport brand", adds the mag, "after the unveiling of a partnership with Caterham to create a new sports car under the Alpine brand at Renaultsport’s Dieppe factory."
 
Hmmm, lets hope it's not just some stickers eh'.
 
Not sure if we've read the same article but i'm pretty sure the essence of that article says it's not going to be just stickers and styling updates but more hardcore road going versions.
 
I heard about the proposed collaboration with either lotus or caterham, but Gordini just seems a marketing tool.

Renault have never stuck to one 'brand' for further performance orientated models, cups, trophy's, R20's then R26R. why the sudden change in marketing what has previously been cosmetic or options as standard to all out track inspired?

seems a little out of the blue
 
I read in autocar that they are to create a new Clio Williams to go on sale in 2014, which will push out 220bhp opposed to the 197 the new shape is to achieve with its Auto only gearbox. Its is to be released to be a rival for the pug 208 Gti apparently.
 
Ill wait until i see it. Im thinking something covered in stickers to. :(

theyve always had the cup,

why did they bring out the trophy? And did the meg 225 trophy have Sachs?(Genuine question)

the r2* were released to celebrate the f1 wins in 06 and 07 weren't they? And the r27s atleast introduced the cup chassis to the mk3 RS clio range.

then the .r was just a mental road going track car


I think bringing back gordini will be 'writing off' the cup/trophy/r2* of the old shapes and starting fresh with gordini for the new small capacity boosted hot hatches
 
Nothing special about the Meg Trophy. All nimbus, no Recaros etc. Wasn't anything special at all.
 
So dark blue and gold wheels, what else?
its confusing with renault performance models, almost like how Subaru went a few years back
 
It's a collabaration with Caterham as in the BRZ/FT-86, mock up and more details in this months EVO

None of that really seems to have any substance. In fact much of it seems to be poorly translated. A step towards Renaultsport? What? Track cars? What? Renault make track-only cars that we will now be able to buy? Yeah, they will sell well. What? I genuinely don't get it.
