Hi, currently on route to pick my clio172 up! Needless to say I'm very excited :), anything I should look for when I'm with car & owner?

Thanks, Oakley

The biggie is the belts and if they were done who by, and any proof. The cambelt etc is a big and expensive job so if it hasnt been done factor the best part of £650 into the negotiation.

Welcome to Cliosport.

One thing to ask is when the belts were last done :) Also check tyres for unusual wear, check the service history of it. Old Mot certificates to see if it matches up with the mileage on the car now. Check the Fluid levels, look for leaks under the car, check the paintwork to see if it all matches up and also check the gaps where the doors and boot close etc (if it doesnt line up then may of been in a crash) and so forth. Hope its a good car for you :)

Ahh thanks lads :). I know I should listen for the unusual ticking noise from the depaser pulley, any other common faults?

Don't know if you can see the pics but:

It needs a clean but will do that on the weekend :)

Cheers mate, it's on ktec coilovers, and to be honest I don't find the ride bumpy at all! The missus does lol

Cheers mate. A few things I want to do to it but I think it's going to stay like this for a while :)

Looks good, you happy?

Cheers, yes very happy!

You'd definitely want the belts to have been changed at that mileage!

As for a worn out dephaser pulley, the sound it makes is more of a tappy noise like this: http://youtu.be/rDf1QnKHdhU

Belts & dephaser pulley were done 10k ago, but thanks anyway.

That looks really nice mate.

Thanks mate, it's my third black car, and after I had my second I deemed never to go back to black... But something keeps telling me to go with black haha.
