Deleting PAS

You can just remove the pump and associated pipes and run the rack dry, However. parking is a nightmare, lol
If you have a 182 then you need an aircon delete kit, The pump can be completely removed and run the long stretch of the belt over the top rather than the conventional bottom run, A 4 rib belt needs to be used as the 5 would foul the cambelt cover.
A late citreon Saxo electric pump can be used if you still wish to have power steering, As the pump is only a feed and return it is easy to plumb.

You can use the 1.5dci/1.2 rack I think but it is more turns lock to lock.
Fred mentioned in a thread the other day you could use the Twingo Sport rack (as it uses epas) and that is the same turns lock to lock, some people thought it wouldn't fit though.
Tempted to try it myself with a proper manual rack, like above.

Dave, its my trophy but no longer a road car, and highly unlikely to ever pass an MOT to be road worthy again now.
aircon already gone, next tasks are to do away with the ABS and PAS.
we have used a Saxo electric pump on a track focus in the past, but in all honesty I don't see a reason to have PAS atall on the clio anymore

You should of driven mine Kelv at Ring/spa when we were there it's horrific without IMObut in all honesty I don't see a reason to have PAS atall on the clio anymore

i wouldn't have thought once out on track that it would be so bad!
tbh, if its just heavy and a struggle for shuffling on/off the trailer and into the unit then I can handle that, but if its genuinely that bad on track then I may reconsider.
my other issue is the fluid over boiling the reservoir, I've spoken to a company about having new tanks fabricated for them all on the bulkhead, and ideally water cooled.
i just thought doing away with it could have some good bonuses

Personally I hated it, but I guess it is everyones own preference. I found the steering wasn't fluid if that makes sense it sort of had resistance and then suddenly turned a lot. I would say round the ring it was bordering on dangerous on a smooth wider track like Spa it was still not great but a little more manageable. Was just a handful over the bumps.
TDF made an enlarged tank for mine last year and it did seem to help. I personally wouldn't water cool but just run a small cooler on the low pressure line. I think Driftworks sell a specific PAS cooler kit for about £65. I have swapped to EPAS for this season to remove the risk of fluid issues and pipes in the way but until I have tested the system I can't say what other issues I may face.

I always wondered if it was just that your pump was on the way out James. Over heating PAS fluid is not the norm is it? Never been a problem for me. I had a PAS leak at about 100k and then changed the fluid again recently but that is it and I've had the (race) car since 24k.
It had a few different pumps on it and they all died unfortunately
