E3 2013

USB3? My current 360 uses USB external storage. While not as fast as USB3 it supplements the HD. Its possible this will be the intended path for extending storage also.

USB 3.0 still won't be as fast as internal storage, I just meant the capacity anywho. So is it confirmed you can use external drives then? Not seen it anywhere.

Sure, but most of it isn't rumour, it's mostly fact now, although there are people mis-interpreting things I guess. fair enough. i still think for a system requiring you to install games and with it not being a 'cheap' box they'd have given it a decent storage capacity when we are talking about dual layer bd media for games. It should be a terabyte minimum really.

Oh rly. Any chance of a discount on E-Series latitudes? lol.

They aren't yelling about it because the herp derp morons of the internet don't want to listen anymore.

Major Nelson mentioned it the other day when being interviewed by some fittie from Reddit. Does sound awesome.

Yep. Although on the other hand it's their own fault initially for their expo being an absoloute drag, and then furthermore not outlying the benefits. Just coming on and saying...YOU NEED INTERNET, basically.

Im not entirely sure ms means it to be taken as that's which is why they aren't banging on about it, it's really mean for the same household I think, if it was as above then they would sell less games as you'd just get a group of friends who would buy the minimum copies between them to all play it, they're trying to make more money, not less.

people in the same household won't buy the same game twice, as the moment anyone can create a profile on on the Xbox and play any game you have on disk, but with the new system as the games are tied to a live account you couldn't do this, you'd have to give your password to your brother and mum etc, but they'd want to play using their own profile to see their own progress and shields. So this is ms's way of allowing that to happen.

And the whole allowing them to do it anyway is instead of your brother taking the disk round to his mates house.

i really don't think it's intended as per the graphic and I'm sure that ms will not be happy this is happening, hence why they aren't using it as a selling point, it's actually a way for them to let other people in your house play the game they would have been able to freely do on a 360.

Do have shares with Sony?
I have more of a vested interest in Microsoft than Sony, but I also know how Microsoft f**k people over everyday with their licensing agreements and how people think they are doing the right thing when actually they aren't.

Ms are very clever, their business is built around this type of thing, they aren't stupid.

Not all bad, they're just repeating the speculation. It's not actually that big a deal that they used PC hardware. It's pretty common these days, although it is laughable using specs that are no where near XBox Ones. Also nobody has really confirmed what was running on said machine, and also it's the developers choice, not Microsofts.

They seem to speak highly of Forza which is good. Some of the high resolution shots look impressive.

Ps4 are really clinging onto that fact aren't they? I bet in a year once there both out for some time the xbox will trounce the ps4. IMO its just a load of fuss over nothing I'm sure it'll all work out.

To be fair if I were them I'd be doing the same, why not play on it. Not Sony's fault MS doesn't know how to market what they've got. I agree though it is a fuss over nothing.

I thought it was fairly standard practice that launch titles are created on PCs, its not like the consoles are available 2yrs before launch for the developers to use surely? Or is that being spun as some kind of scandal now as well like the whole online-only non-issue.

People tend to forget. Sony's MGS 4 was running on a PC originally. The Xbox 360 launch titles were being shown on a Power PC G5. Swings and roundabouts.

No disks, everything is purchased online (think Steam) but everyone was making out like it was a terrible thing that would never work (even though it works fine for Steam on the PC). Thats why i was refering to it as a non-issue but it was treated like the worst thing ever.

Too many fundamental differences with Steam for that to be a good comparison IMO.

I'd have to agree, they're very different. You can trade games on Xbox One for a start, with Steam you only have the option to gift, so if you purchase this way, you cannot in any way shape or form play it yourself with your account. On the other hand though, Steam is free of subscription, and despite the former, regular sales and amazingly cheap games means most people overlook this. To be honest, the fact it's locked into my account has never crossed my mind.

Buy your own f*cking games. lol

Although not directly relevant given the differences, it's worth pointing out Steam had some serious problems when it launched.

The speculation about games running on PC's at E3, Michael Wilford is the chief developer of the game Lococycle. It was their choice to use a PC as the game was incomplete, thus they weren't happy running it unstable on the Xbox One Dev kit. Fuss over nothing.

A lot of recently displayed demos/games were shown on PC-based hardware (as opposed to the 'real' console hardware or devkits) as some developers are only just getting finalised devkits delivered anyway. As Scone suggests, it's not always a means to present more impressive results through using potentially more powerful PC hardware.

I refuse to use steam because I dont feel I get value for money. I dont get anything physical. That annoys me.

Go to the cinema? Watch live football? Buy phone apps? Pay electric bill? Pay council tax? Pay insurance? Phone bill? All cost money without providing you with something physical.

You must walk around in a rage.
