    2nd driveshaft in 12 months!

It is a genuine Renault part (not an exchange) which I bought from the same Renault dealer I will take the car to for an asessment. I'll do that this week.

    2nd driveshaft in 12 months!

I just checked the bracket. It doesn't appear loose although need to have a proper inspection on the ramp with undershield off as difficult to check on the ground. As it sounds like you have seen a few....Is it normal that the driveshaft sleeve/inner gaiter runs 2-3mm from the rib on the...

    2nd driveshaft in 12 months!

I have thought about it. Just feels like a bit of a bodge and as the relationship between driveshaft and block is fixed regardless of engine rock I cant see how they could touch unless block/driveshaft expand 5mm when they get really hot.

Completely standard. Could you see it hitting the block when stationary?

    2nd driveshaft in 12 months!

I know what you are saying but I cant see anything that could hit the gaiter. Other than the fact the inner driveshaft joint runs about 5 mm from the block (which I think is normal), If something was twisted I would be able to see evidence of it hitting the gaiter. I could see why the gaiter...

    2nd driveshaft in 12 months!

Thanks. I thought that would be the case. I am 100% sure there is nothing I have done that has caused the failure. Because the previous gaiter failed I have been checking every month or so to make sure the wheel arch liner or something else hasn't come in contact with it. Wheel arch liner is...

    2nd driveshaft in 12 months!

I have a 2003 172. When I bought the car the inner driveshaft gaiter was split on drivers side. As there is no replacement gaiter available I purchased a complete new genuine driveshaft from Renault at 140 quid. Fitted it. Fine for two months, then the wheelarch liner became detached from...

    10month policies=NCB

The only disadvantage I see is that it ties you to the same company for two years. Get the first year on a 10 month, second year on a 12 month and then you can go elsewhere and the proof of no claims states two years. This is what i did with elephant.

    Oil Viscosity, A common misconception!

Hi oilman. Do you know anything about the Ford formula S oil (fully synthetic 5w 40)?? I can get it really cheap and was going to use in in my 182. I have heard it is actually valvoline oil re-branded?? [Edited by cupra on 7/6/2005 6:20:58 PM]

may be swapping 172 4 ibiza cupra

When I had the remapped cupra and my mate had a standard 182 there is nothing in it up to about 70, and then the cupra pulls maybe 5-7 car lengths to 140- but to be honest how often are you going to be doing this???

may be swapping 172 4 ibiza cupra

I agree with most stevo says but I have actually gone the other way i.e revod cupra to 182 with cup suspension. For me the cupra is never going to have the poise of the 182 despite upgrading suspension. The steering rack is just not short enough and chassis not stiff enough. For what I...
