I swapped the aerial off my wifes car this morning which fortunately fit ( I was running a cheap bee sting type aerial) and I lo and behold I have a some semblance of a radio signal again.
Were the standard Cabasse head units amplified for radio internally as well as using the roof unit? Im...
Have had utterly crap radio reception for years so I finally got round to changing the aerial base (as I thought that was the problem). As it turns out fitting a brand new one hasn’t fixed the problem at all - it’s made zero difference.
All connections are right in the back of the head unit (a...
I didn’t have a single problem with the sump bolts fortunately, thank fully this car hasn’t had monkeys working on it in the past. However I didn’t want to chance the sub frame bolts especially considering it wasn’t needed for this job.
Once the engine is jacked up high enough getting the sump...
its really not the most pleasant of jobs, remember doing one on a rover k series once and there was still a lot of oil in it even after draining it and it went all over the floor and me. Horrible.
Im hoping that doesnt happen but if it does I may just have one of those irwin grip sockets. If its small enough. Going to be a messy job, hopefully no longer than about 3 hours mind
Just want to clarify the steps when removing the sump (the method without taking the subframe off)
Drain oil
Bump and slam panel off
Offside engine unbolted from chassis and dog bone off
Jack engine up as high as possible and place block of wood under the engine mount
Undo sump bolts and...
Got a bit of a leak on the sump gasket ( ive been putting up with it for years but its got a little bit worse recently) so I intend to change it.
Whats the easiest way to get the sump removed? Ive read its recommended to remove the sub frame but I dont really fancy doing that if possible. I...
the filter medium is mainly a holder for the oil. A filter without oil wont be doing much at all. For foam filters the oil is of a thicker sticker consistency
Im not sure what size it was off the top of my head as I'd pinched it from a J&R shaft though i've actually removed it and fitted a used genuine one instead now as the J&R one would seep oil so I dont think it was a very good fit to the bearing - joke really, they cant even make a decent rubber...
The alarm on my 182 seems to have a mind of its own at the moment by going off randomly at all hours. I remember reading somewhere that you could reduce the sensitivity of the interior sensors by swapping a red and black wire around - can any one shed any light on this? I also read somewhere...
I used a pipercross when i had a foam filter fitted, not the stuff for a k&n cotton one as I had read it wasnt to wise to be using that on a foam filter for whatever reason. The foam filter oil is much thicker and stickier
