I think you can, and this seems the simplest and cheapest option. Especially if you already have all the parts. I'm about to go down the same route

I need to change the ECU on my 182 as it appears to have died... Can I buy a 172 one if its available or will it not run? Does it have to be a specific 182 ECU? Thanks

Just had a look on my Mrs 1.2 in that area. Is it the Sagem unit under there? I think I've found the wires I'm looking for... Theres a white plug towards the back houseing several wires, on the end of which there are two grey twisted wires... That's them right?
