Brute force mate - the only way I managed to remove it was to place a chisel horizontally between the cover and the ECU and prise it upwards. There's probably a better way to do it, but I was tearing my hair out at that point.
Try this for a guide in case you don't have it...
I'd fully recommend Nick Hill (Hillpower) in supplying a modified inlet manifold for the 182. His knowledge on tuning is fantastic, and he is a very approachable guy. Turnaround was under a week for supply and postage.
I personally would not bother with any of the other companies advertising...
The ITG Panel is definitely worth it, IMO. I purchased one for £40 through Merlin Motorsport about a year ago. I then took the car to a Rolling Road - 179bhp standard and 184 with no other mods apart from the panel. Torque was up from 148 to 155 lb/ft as well (print outs to prove it).
Renault...
Spotted tonight, you just put on your Xenons and then flew past me on to the A96! I was in my crappy other car - 1.2 Clio ;)
Also shortly after saw a 172 Mk1 grey on the B977...

It's a brilliant guide - helped me immensely - although i did get really frustrated with removing the black metal panel over the ECU!!!

Hi, I've got a problem with my clio!!!
I came out of work a few weeks back and the two lights, Electrical Fault and Toxi Fumes, came on. The car lost all performance and I couldn't get above 20-25mph.
I called the AA who came...
try BB Performance tuning. They do the same ECU as fastchip - great service, really recommend them. My 182 feels a fair bit quicker than it used to be :)
Don't think so, why don't you try the Fastchip one (also available through BB Performance Tuning).
You could also get a remap from Nick Hill (Hillpower). All give the same results. I've got one and am well pleased with the results.
I've bought one of the fastchip 182 ECU's via BB Tuning and had a question about the rev limiter...
when i had the original ECU, the 182's rev limit varied as the car heated up... so it would stop you damaging the engine I guess..
the question is, is this feature still on the fastchip ECU...
I dont think you can get a touch up pen for the alloys.
Do a search though, there was a guy who had posted saying you can use Stone Grey spray paint for a Rover, its exactly the same shade as the anthracite alloys.
