For the record - tied Motormania - they can't get hold of handbrake cables for 182s - thus the whole issue of trying to locate one, and the bloody main stealers taking (now) two weeks to get me a set of handbrake cables! Bloody crazy!
I was thinking of trying to sell it privatly though? Maybe through pistonheads or something. I'd try and aim it at the modder - I know if I sold it part-ex or even to a garage, I'd get a lot less than that.
hey all,
I'm in a state of dilema at the moment. I've spent a fare whack on my 182 over the last few months, but each time i've been plagued with problems. The latest being I'm having problems getting new handbrake cables as one has snapped, and the other was stretched.
Anywho, I've now...
Yeah - that's what I thought - AH!
I'm thinking it's fudged as really badly frayed. What's the verdict on using other cables on it? Are the handbrake cables specific for the 182?
I did have... right up until we took that side off also. I'm now driving around without a handbrake at all.
Ah well, guess it's a phone call to the main stealers then...
Hi all,
Really need some help here. I've snapped one of my handbrake cables, and have just jacked it up to look at the damage. The one side, is totaly gone (which had snapped), but the other side is corroded to hell.
Problem is, I can't find anywhere that stocks handbrake cables for the 182...
It would beat a 172 - it's a 5.3 litre engine, developing god knows how much torque. it might only be around 175hp, but it's the torque that gets you on the motorway. 1*2s only develop around the 200Nm marque - that thing is probably around 200 ft/lbs!
That's what I thought. Think it's one to one of the wheels as still got some braking, but just loads of play. Wondering if one of the cables has stretched, which is why all the load was going on one cable, causing it to break. I have had some strange creaking noises from it over the last week or so.
Well, I've just pulled up at work, went to pull my handbrake on, and "SNAP". Its bust! I dunno at this stage if its the attachment on the handbrake lever or the cable (do they have cables?)
I dunno... puncture yesterday! They say it comes in threes...
