Tired looking headlights on my 172.

Here are a few pics. When I polished the lenses I did it with wet and dry working down a couple of grades, then polished with Meguiars PlastX with a drill buffer. They came up well, except for these cloudy patches. When I run my finger over the plastic it feels the same on and off these bits...

Tired looking headlights on my 172.

There is clouding of the plastic on the inside of the lenses, I've polished the outside until my arms were ready to drop off!

Tired looking headlights on my 172.

The headlights on my 172 have been looking a bit worse for wear for a while. I recently polished them up with some fine wet and dry and they are shed loads better than they were. There are still marks/discolouration on the clear plastic, on the inside where I can't get at them to polish them up...

    Spraying - Plymouth Area

Hi, I went to Rodgman and Williams and they wanted £10 for a quote. Its not like I arrived with the front end hanging off the car, it just needs a bit of filler and a panel painting. The bloke just kept telling me it was £10 for an estimate (which I wasn't willing to pay) so I left without a...

    Spraying - Plymouth Area

Hi, I need to get the N/S rear quarter panel re-sprayed on my 172 (and front bumper if the price is right). Can anyone recommend a bodyshop in the South West that will do a neat job, I am a perfectionist!

    Is this the part?

Bearings went in fine, a direct replacement for the originals. The knocking is still there ... annoying! I am going to head back to the main dealer and find out about the shim they recommended. I heard from a chap on a local CS meet a while back about putting a washer in to stop the knocking...

    Is this the part?

Finally got round to fixing this problem. I went to the local Euro Car Parts place (the one I went to was actually called GSF Car Parts). I got the guy to look the top mount bearings up, he came up with a part number and had 2 in stock. Came to £22.80p for both. It's not the part I linked to...

    RS 172 Specialist in Devon/Cornwall?

Update to the cambelt thread; I got three quotes from the specialists nearest to me (Plymouth). They were all within about £30 of each other to supply and fit a genuine cambelt kit and aux belt kit. In the end I decided to go with Nick at Pure Motorsport in Padstow. Had the work done today, very...

    RS 172 Specialist in Devon/Cornwall?

I need to get the cambelt and aux belt done, are there any specialists near Plymouth? Would K-TEC Racing be the closest or does anyone know of somewhere closer to where I live?

    Is this the part?

Just phoned the Ren' dealer as a little comparison. They want £37.58 for a kit for each side which has the top cup and bearing plate, also the guy said I will need a shim for each side at £4.21 each. Can anyone else confirm the part I posted a link to is the only bit I will need or will I need...

Is this the part I need to fix the knocking suspension top mounts on my 172? http://www.eurocarparts.com/ecp/c/Renault_Clio_2.0_2002/p/car-parts/suspension-and-steering/suspension/suspension-bushes/?609745090&1&628cd127b0681419f74463c1c52924c02f2ee8ce&FLXM

    Windscreen Corner Trim

My top rubber had moved, lifted both corner trims and could see the plastic bits below the outer rubber were more to one side than the other. Bit of a shove with my thumb moved it back to centre.

    Windscreen Corner Trim

Think I have this sorted now. The long top and side trims slide left/right up/down with a little force. The top trim was way over to one side so got it central with a bit of a shove. The corner trims now sit more naturally, but still not entirely flush. Bought a tube of Sikaflex 291 marine...
