Chase Racing Clio Build Blog (TinTops Entry)

Old, rusty nuts! After all that paint it is such a shame to use old hardware! I know it is not a show queen, but new nuts or a little polish would have finished the job off nicely! Yes, my 172 build will take longer than it should and cost far too much ;-)

More choice and lower cost if you go for 15s...

What paint did you use? Looks good.

    182 FF Coilovers

Full factory refresh? Not silly money and will get one of the best handling hatches back to its best...

    Stripped Clio weight

What with the trailer weighing 500kgs... My Caterham weighs about 500kg with loads of carbon. Clio - nowhere close!

What is the best stuff to use on a carbon fibre bonnet

Just watch for over-spray onto painted panels. I give a really good covering in the Pledge, and then buff.

What is the best stuff to use on a carbon fibre bonnet

Seriously, try Mr. Muscle or Pledge. Haters will hate, but always brings the carbon on my Caterham up a treat and lasts a good month or so.

Fancy a ski down Eau Rouge?

Lovely bend. When you enter it the exit hides over the crest... Just have to broadly aim and tidy up the last few inches when the rest of the turn appears. Look up Webber Alonso Eau Rouge on YouTube. Epic overtake.

New wheel on .... best change yet!

Seen the new MOT regs? Rumour has it, missing OEM safety devices (like airbags) is a likely fail. Time will tell how actively this is policed.

What's the first Clio 182 suspension mod?

Not 182 specific, but I'd recommend taking a good look at all consumables / high wear items, replacing as appropriate. Then get a full 4 wheel alignment done to a fast road spec from a specialist. This will ensure that what you've currently got works to its full potential, and that the car is...

Approaching someone to buy their car?

Notes don't work, I certainly wouldn't call a random just because a note came through the door. Up the persistence and just be honest - but not too willing. More visits to the chaps house, and turn up looking vaguely presentable. If a scally turned up at my door regardless of what they had...

Isit normal to want a 182 ff/cup instead of my 172 cup?

Was planning on getting a 182FF. Why should I get a 172 Cup instead?

    What's your idea of a good mod/theme.

I like stickers me. Nah. I like what is often called 'club sport' spec. A good smattering of track stuff, but with enough comfort to drive to the 'Ring. Or the shops. Nice suspension (but the option to soften it off and retain ride hight), uprated brakes, sensible sized wheels, decent rubber...
