I have both a 172 Cup which I have owned from new and an S1 Elise which I have owned for 2 years with sports exhaust but otherwise standard.
In the right mood and on the right road the Elise is a far superior/more fun driving experience and makes the Cup seem dull. On a really twisty section...

Its like letting kids go out cycling without helmets on. 15 years ago you wouldnt have given it a second thought now people get plain silly about it.

whatever you buy try to find cheapest around and then get John Lewis to price match it. Reason being that John Lewis offer a price match and give you a 5 year warranty as standard which would cost you £150 anywhere else.

Mines been fine 11k now without mishap. Theres plenty out there that are reliable you just hear about all the bad ones.

GTOs are pretty slow - they may have 280ps but it weighs 1700kgs thats a power to weight ratio of less than a 172.
Hence why it was always really slated by anyone that ever tested it in the mags - overweight and numb posemobile
