Coil spring rubbing 😢

  Clio mk3 06
Hi everyone, long time lurker, first time poster 👋

I’ve noticed my coil spring rubbing on the strut , then noticed the top mount was missing a chunk of plastic 😩

Do you think changing the top mount would centre things up a bit better, or is there something else going on here?

Much love guys 🙏

You've snapped the top of the spring off mate.

You need a new spring and quite possibly a new top mount.

Hey buddy,

Somebody else said exactly the same, but it’s a brand new spring.

I’ve got another to do the other side, and I’ve compared them both and nothing seems to be snapped off 🤷‍♂️

That's odd then. I'd buy new top mounts and strip it down to see what's wrong.

Yeah I think that’s the best bet mate.

Can springs be put on upside down? Left or right?

Maybe I’ve got the wrong spring in there 🤷‍♂️

Normal with cheap motor factor springs, this is why the genuine ones have a rubber cover over the bottom few coils, you will be getting knocking over bumps etc

only pic i could find, you can see the rubber cover
