Is it wrong I want to start stockpiling these parts even though I don't have a PMS shifter yet? :LOL:

This has turned in to a bit of a debacle

If it’s not like a well serviced rifle after this, I’m going to cry.

Ok so all of that for one bearing? Perhaps I’m just being dumb but what’s the outcome you are expecting, aside from an un-fucked bearing. Is it to solve the rattle they have?

All the hearings were seized. So wanted to replace them.

Hoping the selector will be nicer to use. And less rattly.

I don’t mind buying tools, I buy them as I need them. Useful to have around

Finished the refurb today.

New upgraded pivot bearing is a big improvement. Not only is the motion smoother and plusher, it no longer rattles.

As mentioned above, the bearing feels much better than the stock one. More of a controlled motion.

My first track toy had the 1st gen PMS gear shifter. Absolutely horrible. All you hear on camera was the death rattle. My last car had the new carbon shifter and it was superb. No rattling and smooth as silk.

Not sure how old the one in mine is (it is carbon). But the bearings were all completely shagged.

So a good freshen up can’t hurt. It feels totally different now.
