Motor bike wheel restoration. Water marks…

Trying to bring the back wheel on the bike back to life. The wheel seems to attract water marks. Also the ‘notched’ parts of the wheel are caked in 23 years worth of road grime.

Having a nightmare bringing the metal back. I’ve tried wire wool (000) and wd40. But its barely touched it.

Can anyone recommend a product and perhaps a drill attachment to try and bring it back to life?

Cheers,
Dan

Monsieur Sharten.

What be the whu-heels be made of? They look like Ali, at which point id have said its more than likely tarnishing/oxidisation than it is water spots?

Have you tried a proper water spot remover?

Painted?? Or just metal?

Either way, I’d be starting with a polish of some kind

Afternoon lads, so i’ve done a bit of googling, as it turns out when the wheel was new, its actually a sort of ‘rough’ finish between those grooves?

Its not so much chrome as more a machined finish if that makes any sense?

Heres a newer one;

So, machined 'inserts' aside, id have said the other bits are oxidisation tbh.

Still, no mention of what theyre made of Mr @Poopensharten ..........

That said, id still be giving them a bit of a rub (oooo errr) with some compound and a mf towel to see if it shifts. My money is on oxidisation but it could also be worth chucking some proper waterspot remover at them first, as they is the 'least harsh' option. Never a bad idea to start with that first.

Aye okay f**king fancy flowers you helpful f**k.

The more i look at it i’m thinking i’ll just get the wheels done again. At least at the end of the biking season, it’s being painted so may as well do the wheels whilst its in bits!
