16 inch Wheels on MK2 clio

Hi

just got some cash for some wheels to put on my clio Mk2, only got a budget of £500 quid. Was looking at multi-spokes.

Thing is i dont wanna lower the car as its more cash and effort, im not going mad on the car, just fancied a set of wheels. Do 16s look rediculous without lowering the car? would i be better going for 15s for a more discreet look. Anyone got any pics of their clio on 16s without being lowered or could anyone suggest some wheels on my budget that look particularly good on a MK2 clio S in black.

Your responses will be appreciated.

Yeah, I was thinking of puting 16s on myself. ..did you try it, did it fit?
I'm interested in 7 inch wide 16".. and I just need a second opinion. I think that ET37 would solve the problem with a 40-45 tire.. but would it clear the brakes, would it rub?
Thanks!

On a 1.2L I found 16" fine but a little harsh and heavier to steer (182 alloys), I run 15" now.

I have 20mm spacers on the front and 10mm axle spacers on the rear. Everything clears the standard brakes, I have bigger Peugeot calipers and 1*2 discs on mine, plenty of room with 15" wheels

On the other hand I have 16" turinis on the 172 and they ride better with the extra power. It's just a road car though so not worried about weight. Car has 300mm discs and 197 brembos with about 4mm clearance.

Same again with 20mm spacers up front and 10mm axle spacers rear
